Hara-Ie, a 100-year-old dojo inn with a view of the two Alps, in Ina Valley, Nagano Prefecture

This is a small, renovated, 100-year-old earthen storehouse in a town in Ina Valley, Nagano Prefecture, where you can see the two Alps. The inn is run by a married couple who run a design office. It is a space where we designed it ourselves, created the parts we could with our own hands, and explored the possibilities of renovating the warehouse while cultivating the power to create our own lives. We hope you will find your own comfort through the experience of living in this quiet place where the lifestyle of the past and the present intersect. ■ Capacity 3 people It is a small space with a total floor area of about 50 ㎡, so it is spacious enough for 1-3 adults to stay comfortably. ■ Time Check-in: 4 pm - 8 pm Check-out: 11 am We greet you in person at check-in and check-out. Please let us know your arrival time in advance when you make a reservation. ■ Access We encourage you to come by car to shop for groceries and stroll around the neighborhood. There is parking space for 2 cars on the premises (please contact us if you have more than 2 cars) The space ■ Living room The living space is divided into 3 areas: a dining space, a small raised space, and an audio space. In the dining space, you can dine at a table for 4 people. In the small raised space, you can relax while reading, etc., or you can use it as a bedroom by laying a futon on the tatami mat. In the audio space, you can enjoy warm sound from vintage speakers and amplifiers. You can connect your smartphone via Wi-Fi/Bluetooth to play your own music or enjoy the records we have available. You can also enjoy a wood-burning stove in the living room, so please let us know in advance if you want to use it. ■ Bedrooms The 1st floor is the living room and the 2nd floor is the bedroom. Futons for 2-3 people can be prepared in the 2nd floor bedroom. (You can also use the 1st floor small raised space as a bedroom) ■ Kitchen We do not provide meals, but we provide basic cooking utensils, condiments, and dishes so that guests can cook for themselves. * Please bring your own food. Cooking facilities: 2 IH heaters, microwave, fridge, toaster, electric kettle Seasonings: rice oil, olive oil, salt, pepper, 1 liter of spring water (tap water is also delicious in this area) We also have coffee beans, a set of hand-drip equipment, and tea, so I hope you can enjoy them. ■ Bathroom It has a flush toilet and a unit bath. If you come by car, there is also a hot spring nearby, so we recommend that you use it. ■ Wood deck Relax on the spacious wooden deck overlooking the Southern Alps. Please let us know in advance if you want to use the outdoor fire pit. (You can buy firewood for 500 yen per bundle) ■ Amenities Bath towels, face towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hair dryer, toothbrushes, lotion, facial foam, slippers Guest access The inn is a private accommodation, so you can use the entire building freely. In addition to the private warehouse, there is a main house on the property that is over 130 years old, where the host lives. (Basically, please refrain from entering the main house) In addition, the neighboring premises (adjacent fields, rice fields, etc.) are the property of a third party and are off-limits. Other things to note ・ Our hotel is an old building that has been renovated to the maximum, so it is not barrier-free. Please be aware that there are large steps at the entrance, stairs, and small steps. ・ In order to enjoy the atmosphere of the building, the lighting in the room is minimal. Please be aware that some guests may find this inconvenient. ・ The room is completely non-smoking. Smoking is allowed outdoors, but no ashtrays are provided. Please bring a portable ashtray and dispose of your cigarette waste. If we find out that you smoked indoors, we will charge you for cleaning. ・ Please refrain from eating, drinking, fireworks, or other activities that may disturb the neighbors after 9 pm. ・ Please refrain from trespassing on other properties (neighboring residential properties). ・ Because the inn is a building that utilizes a 100-year-old earthen storehouse, insects may invade through the gaps in the structure. Please be careful if you are not good with them. ・ The inn is a space that makes use of a 100-year-old earthen storehouse, and there are structures, fixtures, and furniture that cannot be repaired.
