Come and make some memories at our unique, spacious & family friendly home. Wake up to stunning views of the Great Lake, Miena & wildlife at your door step. With only a 3-minute walk to the Miena Lodge and a 5-minute drive to the Great Lake Hotel & General Store, your family will be close to everything when you stay at Cool Springs Miena. There is ample parking with plenty of space for your boat with the boat ramp located only a few minutes down the road. The space Surrounded by natural beauty with elevated and expansive views of the Central Highlands, Great Lake. Enjoy the view from bed or with a glass of wine or a hot drink curled up on the comfy sofas . A safe and quiet playground for wildlife, this property is teeming with Tasmania’s unique inhabitants. Watch out for our resident deer who pass through our yard most evenings and enjoy watching wallabies graze and snooze from the living room window most late afternoons. At night time, keep an eye out for nocturnal birds, possums and wombats . We have an outdoor fire drum to warm your marsh mellows with the kids or to just relax and stare at the stars. With barely any light pollution, the stars make for a great view. If you prefer a movie, you’ll find smart TV in the living room. Please note, there is no free to air T.V, our T.V is connected to the wifi only. Miena & Liawenee are amongst the coldest permanently inhabited places in Australia year round. Due to snowfall, a four wheel drive is highly recommended or chains for 2WD vehicles in the months of June to August. Occasionally in winter, the roads in and out of Miena are closed or restricted to 4WD only due to snowfall. Pease check the weather conditions and ensure you are travelling in an appropriate vehicle as a refund will not be provided and we can't guarantee we can extend your stay due to bad weather. Extended stays is based around other guests bookings. Please ensure you continue reading the "Guest Access" section of our listing regarding our bedroom access and sleeping arrangements. Even though the cabin is cosy, the weather is often unpredictable, so make sure to bring warm clothing for extra comfort. There is heated floor tiles in both the bathroom and kitchen to keep your toes toasty. Heating the house is predominantly from the fireplace so it is essential that guests know how to light a fire. Ample fire wood for your stay has been supplied. The bathroom is spacious, featuring a shower, toilet, sink and washing machine. Like every other property in Miena, the cabin runs on tank water, so time is of the essence when it comes to showering. Collect groceries, local delicacies and fresh foods on your travels. The closest supermarket is in Deloraine, a hour drive from Miena. There is a general store in Miena, however it only stocks the most basic of items. More than just a place to stay. Designed and fully renovated by Bass Strait Interiors, Cool Springs Miena is a haven for reconnection and relaxation. Take in the charm of nature, slow down and rediscover the joy of life’s simple pleasures. Guest access There is no public transport so you will require a vehicle. You have access to the entire house, however, your booking will depend on how many of the three bedrooms are made available to you. Please read below to ensure you book the appropriate amount of bedrooms. If your booking is for two people, you will automatically be allocated one bedroom, the Master Bedroom which features a king size bed. If your booking is for four guests, two bedrooms will be accessible and if for 6 guests, three bedrooms will be accessible. Master Bedroom - King Bed & Cot if required Bedroom 2 - Queen Bed Bedroom 3 - Double Bed Your booking rate is based on the above information. If you would like two bedrooms, please select four guests and if you would like three bedrooms, please select six guests. This will ensure the required amount of bedrooms are accessible to you. Please note, bedrooms are locked unless otherwise communicated with us. Please book as per above instructions if you require additional bedrooms. The cabin runs on tank water, so time is of the essence when it comes to showering. We suggest using the cold wash setting on the washing machine so you can save as much precious hot water as possible for your showers. The hot water service will automatically reheat itself and will take around three hours to reheat from cold. We do not allow parties or un-authorised guests. Smoking is strictly prohibited. Please remove shoes before entering the home. We have a large mudroom entrance where you can store your shoes and coats out of the weather. Don't worry, we have heated tile flooring and warm, comfortable carpet throughout to warm your toes. - Self check-in with a key safe - Private entrance - Free parking, two to four cars and a boat Please note that Cool Springs Miena is not suitable for pets. The shed on the property is not accessible to guests. Wifi is available at the property and both Optus and Telstra get service here. Whilst scheduled network maintenance and/or outages don't happen often, when they do, I'm sure we can all appreciate that this is completely out of our control. As a part of our safety protocol for Cool Springs, Miena we request a copy of your Australian drivers license or Passport as a condition of entry. Please ensure you send through the list of guest names along with your photos IDs when making your booking. We appreciate your co-operation. Other things to note Dining Out - Central Highlands Lodge Only a short walk across the pond (please beware of snakes) or a short stroll along the dirt road (the safer option) Michael makes some delicious home made rissoles and Helen cooks a mean T-Bone Steak & Chicken Schnitty! You can't go wrong with any of their meals 🖤 - The Great Lake Hotel (3 minute drive) Eating in If you’d prefer to stay home, Cool Springs Miena has a fully equipped kitchen with an induction cooktop, electric oven and dishwasher. Our pantry is stocked with some basics, coffee, tea, salt, pepper, oil, and some dried herbs and vinaigrettes. We also have a coffee plunger. Day Tripping (just a handful of many places to see). - Waddamana Power Station The Hyrdo Museum in Waddamana doesn't disappoint. Only a 30 minute drive from Miena. If you are there on a Saturday or Sunday, make sure to call in to see Llyr and Toni at Earthly Delights Coffee. Their treats are to die for ! Tell them Stace & Timmy sent you :) - Projection Bluff Check out this 2.8-mile out-and-back trail near Liffey, Tasmania. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a popular trail for hiking and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. .A pleasant climb up to the bluff with amazing views near Liffey, Tasmania - Pine Lake The Pine Lake walk offers a rare opportunity to get close to one of Tasmania’s rarest trees—the pencil pine—without doing an extended bushwalk. Off the Lake Highway on the Central Plateau, this easy 800m return walk leads to a small alpine lake fringed by beautiful pines. - Liffey Falls The walk will take you past four main cascades, starting upstream with Alexandra Falls, then Hopetoun Falls, Albert Falls and Victoria Falls (the latter commonly known simply as "Liffey Falls").
