Description
Quiet light-filled apartment in the heart of Hunters Hill, alongside park and bushland. Surrounded by magnificent trees, parks and bushland, close to the water, yet minutes from bus and ferry. Downstairs, an expansive living area with kitchen, and lots of natural daylight. Opening to a small front deck and rear shared garden. Upstairs, a quiet bedroom with balcony, leafy tree views, large wardrobe, and bathroom. The apartment is self-contained, with separate entrance alongside main residence. The space The apartment is a private escape alongside our main house, the heritage "Gadaar", built in 1884. The apartment was built as a large artists' studio and parents' retreat in the early '90s for the previous owners. Downstairs, an expansive living area with kitchen, and lots of natural daylight. There are two separate areas to relax- the front lounge with TV, with french doors opening to a small front deck and overlooking the leafy front garden and mature trees. At the other end downstairs, the kitchenette and large lounge with french doors opening to the rear shared garden, with courtyard and lawn and more mature trees. In between, a dining table with plenty of space, and a desk. The kitchenette is fully equipped with full-sized fridge, wall oven, an induction hob, dishwasher, and all kinds of cooking equipment. Upstairs, a quiet bedroom with french doors opening to the sunny north-facing balcony, with leafy tree views. The separate bathroom is also upstairs, with shower and toilet. Between the bedroom and bathroom there's a large wardrobe with extra linen, blankets and towels, and plenty of hanging, drawers, and shelf space. At the rear of the house there's a shared back garden with lovely trees, and a courtyard with table and chair under a big old umbrella, and some comfortable lounge chairs under the old camellia tree - lovely for morning coffee. Our very friendly cocker spaniel will come and say hello. Across the road we have a lovely 'village green', a small oval, and access to Kelly's Bush, an amazing pocket of bushland through which we walk to the Woolwich parklands. There are various cafes and restaurants in easy walking distance, including the Woolwich Pier, Ironwood, Cucinetta, Deckhouse, Miranda, Dawn Bakery, and Masons. Take the ferry from Woolwich wharf, (an easy 15 min walk or bus ride) to Circular Quay and the Opera House. Or take the bus instead. Guest access The studio apartment is separate but adjoining our home. It has its own front door entrance and is quite private and soundproof. Views from the kitchen and the upstairs overlook shared rear garden, with ground floor porch accessible from rear doors. Please note we have a very friendly dog (6yo cocker spaniel) in the backyard. Other things to note We are in the heart of the Hunters Hill peninsula, next to a lovely park and Kelly’s Bush. It’s an amazing area with indigenous history, heritage homes, waterside parks and bushland, working harbour history and great food and wine. It’s incredibly safe and peaceful but easy to access. There are fabulous walks, several cafes and a pub, the Woolwich Pier Hotel, close by. Down at Woolwich dock, there are French markets on the second Sunday of the month. The Woolwich ferry wharf is a 15 minute walk downhill (or take the bus), The F8 service connects us with Circular Quay, as well as Cockatoo Island and Balmain. Or take the 505 bus from just around the corner, direct to the Sydney Town Hall in the morning peak hours on weekdays. At other times the 538 connects us via a change of bus at Church Street Hunters Hill. We are approximately 25 minutes drive from the airport, although this can vary depending on traffic and the time of day. Registration details PID-STRA-79108
