Description

Our relaxing hideaway is 10/15 minutes drive from four of the areas most stunning beaches and with local attractions/amenities within easy reach, it’s a fantastic base for friends and families to explore the area. Two good foodie pubs are within walking distance and a quaint village shop. We are nestled within a small valley with stunning countryside views. We offer a well-equipped retreat with access to a large garden, peaceful relaxing surroundings and free private parking. The space Unwind and feel at ease in our comfortable cottage with sociable, relaxed living space and peaceful garden views. There is a sizeable lounge area with attractive stone fireplace and log burner, Smart TV, and an a-joining sociable dining area. The recently replaced kitchen is fully equipped for you to enjoy making meals at Barley Cottage. The first bedroom has a double bed, new Hypnos mattress and countryside views, the second bedroom has twin beds. Both share the bathroom which has an electric shower. For the 2025 season we have refurbished the bedrooms with new furniture and redecoration. The cottage is also available to rent as a 4 bed. A courtyard with outdoor dining table and bbq is accessible directly from the ground floor plus the guest laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a large garden and top terrace with ample seating and stunning long distance countryside views. Plus fire pit to enjoy our beautiful star-studded dark skies. Enjoy a lovely Welcome Hamper on arrival which includes scones, jam, clotted cream, milk, coffee, tea and sugar. Art Gallery and Studio You are warmly invited to visit Sue’s ceramics gallery and studio while you are here. There are plenty of beautiful artworks to see and choose from. A lovely reminder of your stay in North Devon. The gallery and studio are located at the top of the garden. Parking Barley Cottage is situated on a former 136 acre working farm, it was converted from a grain barn to a cottage in the 1970s. A dedicated private car port (left hand side) was also created at the same time which remains a valuable and nostalgic part of the property. It is conveniently situated right next to the cottage front door. We have modified the car port to make it as accessible as possible for modern wider cars, whilst maintaining its sturdy structure and original character. We have had Range Rovers, Ravs, Audis, parking in the car port with no problems. If you have a very large vehicle or small van you can park in front of the stone steps leading up to the cottage front door. North Buckland is a picturesque hamlet nestled within a tranquil valley set in the middle of The North Devon National Landscape/Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. World Surf Reserve Putsborough Beach, Croyde Bay, Woolacombe Beach and Saunton Sands are 15 minutes drive. Local trails, woodland, Braunton Burrows, The South West Coast Path, Exmoor and much more are within easy reach. There are two pubs in Georgeham - The Kings Arms and The Rock Inn - both serving award winning food and ales and delicious Sunday lunches. Further afield within a 15 minute drive is an excellent selection of eateries, cafes and restaurants. Guest access Guests have access to the large back garden with top terrace giving panoramic views over the rolling Devon countryside. Please note this is shared with other guests that may be staying at the property.
