The architecture of the Ancient Retreat dates back to the 16th century and specifically the 2-Storey Tower was constructed between 1204 and 1669 AD and was built on the ruins of a Venetian defensive tower. The architecture and morphological characteristics of the building make it an ancient monument that represents the entire history of Crete from the time of Venetian rule onwards. The space Τhe Ancient Retreat has a total area (1237.61 m² ) and is located in the village of Faneromeni in Messara in southern Crete in a lush green environment with orange, lemon and other fruit trees. The Ancient Retreat consists of a two-story Tower on the northeast side with dimensions (5m × 10m) and a height of 8m, fully renovated. The ground floor of the tower is (60 m²) and the first floor is (50 m²) and is built entirely of stone and wood. The two-story Tower can accommodate up to 6 people and consists of 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, 1 kitchen and a living room WiFi internet and many more. On the southeast side of the building there is a garden (722 m²) with various trees such as orange, walnut and lemon trees, while a lawn has also been planted. In the garden you can relax, drink coffee, do sun therapy, but also walk and pick various fruits depending on the season. On the northwest side of the building there is an entrance with a door where upon entering there is a large courtyard (190 m²) which is used as a parking lot. There is also an old stable, an old oven and the remaining stone rooms which have not yet been renovated. One of the stone rooms (20 m²) is used as a small siting room and Spartan gym where you can exercise with the exercise equipment but also relax during the summer months. Also on the northeast side of the building there is a small courtyard (50 m²) with a table where one can relax, have coffee and eat breakfast. The entire surrounding area is fenced with a stone wall which surrounds the entire Ancient Retreat. The garden is the most beautiful part of the Villas, looking at the green color of the lawn with the trees which offers a sense of calm and relaxation.
