Yarrawarra - Central Sandgate

Yarrawarra Cottage is a quaint two-bedroom house that is a stone's throw from the Sandgate beachfront esplanade and just a moments walk to the heart of Sandgate village. With two bedrooms, full kitchen, lounge, dining, bathroom/laundry with washer and dryer, and expansive deck. One minute walk to the water and five to ten from all Sandgate has to offer. As we live in a separate house on site with our family, no events/parties/gatherings are allowed. The space Originally holiday cottages from Sandgate’s heyday as Brisbane’s premier seaside destination, our property features two separate houses – while we reside in the house at the back of the block, the front house “Yarrawarra Cottage” is returning to its original intention in housing visitors to our beautiful area. The house is a high-set original Queenslander worker’s cottage featuring soaring ceilings, casement windows, and original VJ walls. While retaining its heritage charm, we have modernised the space to include air-conditioning, ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living room, and security screens and fly screens throughout. The main bedroom is fitted with a comfortable queen bed and large wardrobe, while the second bedroom has a single bed, smaller wardrobe and reading nook. The kitchen is well equipped with a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, sandwich press, and gas stove and oven, as well as all the cooking equipment, crockery, cutlery, and utensils you could require. The pantry is supplied with coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, oil, and a variety of spices. The modern bathroom features a rain shower and a washer and dryer. An expansive, private back deck including a sun lounger completes the property’s features. Our front door is diagonally across from the cottage’s back deck, but rest assured we have added screening to both properties and separation is ensured via a locked door on the back deck, as well as lush tropical planting to provide all of us with a sense of privacy. The location 1min walk to the beachfront esplanade, including multiple fish and chip shops, cafes, public barbeques, and picnic areas 5min walk to the cafes, restaurants, specialty retail, grocery stores, and bottle shops in Sandgate village 5min walk to Sandgate Aquatic Centre, gym, and waterpark 8min walk to the twice-weekly organic/spray-free fruit and vegetable markets (Wednesday and Sunday mornings) 10min walk to Sandgate Train Station to access Brisbane Entertainment Centre, the Airport, the CBD, and Southbank 25min walk along the stunning Lover’s Walk to the historic Shorncliffe Jetty 15min drive to Brisbane Airport 15min drive to Woody Point Jetty and the variety of beaches, shops, cafes, and restaurants of Redcliffe 1hour drive to the Sunshine Coast and its various attractions 1.5hour drive to the Gold Coast and its various attractions. Guest access The house is accessed via a smart lock on the front door. The code will be sent to you before your arrival. Other things to note The house has 10 stairs to access the front door. The front door is slightly narrower than standard (a quirk of this period of house - the front door is approx. 700mm wide). Please consider if this meets your needs before booking. Please also note that guests do not have access to the storage space underneath the house and there is no rear access to the property. The house is unfortunately not suitable for pets, events, or gatherings, and is strictly non-smoking/vaping. We live in quiet residential area, especially at night, and would like to respect our neighbours. There is no off-street parking available for guests however there is always plenty of on-street free and unmetered parking available.
