The Loft features a cozy double bed, a comfortable couch, and a striking raw-edge dining table with uninterrupted views of the mountain. The bathroom includes a gas-powered shower fed by fresh mountain spring water—so you can linger under the spray as long as you like. There is a fully equipped kitchen with panoramic views of the garden. Powered by solar energy and equipped with fast, reliable internet, Kwetu Loft blends off-grid charm with modern convenience. And when the day winds down, gather around the cozy firepit for a quiet evening under the stars. Zunde Upon Zongwe is a peaceful 12-acre smallholding rooted in a deep respect for nature and community. Our vision for Zunde is to nurture a thriving food forest—one that nourishes both people and the resident Samango monkeys, who call this landscape home. We’re in the early stages of bringing this dream to life, and environmental sustainability guides every step we take. From the outset, we’ve made a conscious effort to minimize our carbon footprint in both design and construction. Our accommodation units were built using reclaimed materials as far as possible—old slate, repurposed window frames and doors—and crafted by local hands with locally sourced timber and stone for pathways. Timber was sustainably harvested from 50-year-old gum trees on the property to make space for indigenous flora and future food forest plantings. You’ll notice thoughtful details throughout—from salvaged fittings and vintage pieces given new life, to flower pots made from old urns. Our organic garden provides fresh produce, our water flows from pure mountain springs, and our power is drawn from the sun. We hope your stay at Kwetu Loft offers you a restful retreat and a glimpse into a more harmonious way of living—one where people and nature grow together. Guest access Guests are free to walk around the property. There are benches in various parts of the garden to relax surrounded by nature. Better still, unwind beside a gentle stream at the edge of the property. For those interested in foraging, feel free to help yourself to cherry guavas, tree tomatoes, granadillas, raspberries, tree melons, strawberries...the list goes on...depending on the season of course!
