Explore the meandering Tamarac River to Waskish's Walleye Mecca- Upper Red Lake. Rejuvenate your spirit, star gaze from the deck, laugh by the fire and enjoy your stay. The space Follow the well-marked private drive, along the back edge of your hosts' "garden yard". It's slow going right up to your back door where parking is marked. ( SECOND DRIVE TO THE RIGHT). Please avoid driving on the grass. Look around at a spacious tree-lined backyard with a playhouse, swing, and room to run for the young at heart, tranquil river frontage with a private boardwalk and dock, screened fish cleaning shelter with water, power to dock for charging boat batteries, a spacious front deck, a convenient back patio with BBQ and picnic table shaded by the old grove, and more. Pull your chairs up to the rustic firepit on a star-studded summer night or sip cocoa in front of the "woodstove" when the snow comes down. We offer a four-season vacation with no shortage of breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. It is cozy and warm in the winter months and air-conditioned to keep you cool on steamy summer days and nights. Your human neighbors do not encroach, but wild things may visit if you are lucky. Your hosts strive to create a beautiful, shared outdoor space, which we hope you enjoy. MDH LICENSE # 0044337 Beltrami County Permit # 4-STR-25 Guest access You are welcome to explore the yard on the south side of the driveway to the tree-lined channel, stretching in front of the sunroom to the river with your private boardwalk and dock, and the immediate area surrounding the decks and porches on all sides of the cottage. If the flower gardens are in bloom between the main house and the cottage, we want you to take a stroll and observe the flora and fauna. We are passionate about providing a home for pollinators, so birds and bees abound in our yard. We regret that we are not wheelchair equipped, and we do ask you to watch your footing at all times. The yard and shoreline are natural spaces with potential for uneven surfaces. Other things to note Spring and Summer guests should remember that the official bird of Waskish is the mosquito, so come prepared and live your best outdoor life. Fall is the time and your Northwoods destination for beautiful colors, cool days and wildlife sightings. For early ice and winter guests, your access will be cleared of snow at all times. Blizzards happen and some things are out of our control but we strive to keep your access open throughout the winter months. Drive carefully between the markers. Refer to the welcome book in your cottage for tips and tricks about optimizing your northwoods adventure. Yes, the cabin is air-conditioned and heated, and has a propane fireplace for your comfort. Open water anglers: We will remove fish carcasses from the cleaning shelter bucket so there are no unwanted nighttime visitors. Just message us. Winter anglers: please use fish cleaning facilities at your lake access. We recommend the newly expanded bait shop at West Wind Resort. Bring an extension cord and charge your boat batteries at the end of the dock- if that’s what floats your boat. There are numerous local trails for off road adventures and hunting experiences. The futon in the living room doubles as an extra bed for those that want their own space - or setup a tent in the backyard and be adventurous! Kids love it. If you choose to sleep in your wheelhouse, be advised that there are absolutely no options to dump or drain holding tanks on this property. You must contain your garbage and human waste and take it home with you.
