Other things to note Svortevik Kystgard – a place with soul and history. The farm has its roots in the early 1800s, and carries with it many generations of history. After standing untouched for decades, time has left its mark – the buildings have been exposed to both weather and wind, and bear the mark of decay. Now we are in the process of giving the farm a new life, step by step, with respect for the old and a love for the real. The process will take time, but we still want to open up and share the place with those of you who appreciate historical charm, tranquility and authentic surroundings. With us you will not find the polished and modern – but you will find atmosphere, nature and a unique experience. Animals: We have two cats that live with us, so please be aware if you have allergies. Location: It is about 20 minutes to Eikefjord city center (shop, hairdresser and gas station) It is 45 minutes to Førde (about 50 km), the region's commercial center with shopping, restaurants and cultural activities. It is 40 minutes to Florø (about 45 km), Norway's westernmost town with coastal culture, boat trips and charming harbor area. Briefly about the towns of Førde and Florø: Førde is the largest town in the area and has a wide and varied selection of shops, restaurants and cultural activities. The town has a great location between fjords and mountains, and is known for its scenic surroundings. Florø is the westernmost town in Norway and is located on the coast, with proximity to the sea and many islands. The town is an important fishing port and a central hub for the seafood industry. Florø has a beautiful archipelago and is a popular starting point for boat trips and fishing. Florø is also famous for its historic buildings and maritime environment. Public transport: There are no bus routes outside the school route, so you need a car to get around. Suggestions for nearby attractions: Stakaldeneset- This is a historic area that has served as an early industrial society. Here, diabase was mined - a type of stone that was used to make tools in the Stone Age. The area, which stretches over about 600 meters, was discovered by amateur archaeologist Svein Brandsøy in 1978. The findings showed that the quarry had an extensive significance, and the stone rejects from the mining indicate that the material was in circulation along the entire Vestland and Trøndelag coast for more than 8000 to 9000 years. Today, Stakaldeneset is an important cultural monument that bears witness to Norway's oldest industrial society and provides a unique insight into prehistoric mining and settlement along the coast. Stakaldneset is located in Sandvik, which is 2 km from Nyttingnes. The rock carvings in Ausevik- Between Eikefjord and Stavang in Kinn municipality is one of Norway's largest rock carving fields. The field has over 300 figures from the Bronze Age (about 3000 years old), including animals, people, boats and geometric patterns. The rock carvings provide insight into the life and faith of the people of that time. The area is designed for visitors with parking, walkways and information posters. It is beautifully located by Høydalsfjorden, approx. 20 minutes drive from Nyttingnes. Suggestions for nice hiking trails nearby: Eikefjordstølen- Eikefjordstølen is known for its great location and views of the village and the fjord. The mountain farm is a popular hiking destination, and there is a marked trail up from the rest area at Rv5 in Eikefjord. The tour passes Bjønnamyra and Kleivane before reaching the mountain pasture. Hovlandstølen- Hovlandstølen is located west of Eikefjordstølen and is also a popular hiking destination. The trail from Eikefjordstølen to Hovlandstølen goes west and is well marked. From Hovlandstølen you can continue to Kvalvikstølane. Håsteinen: is a mountain massif east of Høydalsfjorden in Kinn Municipality. The massif consists of two main peaks: the western one known as Høydalsnipa or Ytste Håsteinen which is at 933 m.a.s.l. and the southeastern one called Inste Håsteinen which is at 964 m.a.s.l. Between these peaks lies Håsteinsvatnet at 752 m.a.s.l. For hikers, there are several routes to the peaks.
