FURTHER HISTORIC INFORMATION on “ THE CARLISLE’ building The building known as “The Carlisle,” in Campbell street , Surry Hills , is a notable example of Sydney’s Art Deco architecture. It was constructed in 1938 and designed by the architectural firm Scott Green & Scott. This ten-story residential building features ground-floor retail spaces and is situated at the corner of Bourke and Campbell Streets, near Taylor Square.  Architecturally, “The Carlisle” showcases classic Art Deco elements, including light brick facades with vertical divisions, decorative green tiles with floral motifs, and a chamfered corner that enhances its street presence. The first floor is clad in warmer-colored bricks, and decorative tiles with floral and geometric patterns adorn the spaces between the windows. Its design and detailing reflect the interwar period’s emphasis on stylized ornamentation and modernist aesthetics. Guest access Self check-in with a lock box . You'll have exclusive use of the apartment! Other things to note In respect of our neighbours, there is a strict NO PARTY POLICY, and no noise after 10pm. SMOKING: Smoking and vaping is not permitted on the balcony, inside or any common areas. An additional cleaning fee will apply for any guest found smoking to ensure the space remains fresh and welcoming for all, and no disturbances to other balconies. LIFT ACCESS with a REDUCED MOBILITY caution A couple of stairs separate the bedroom area from the living room. Lift access from the lobby to level 3, though there are also but also four stairs from the corridor to the apartment and also from the bedroom to living space inside the apartment. PUBLIC TRANSPORT Plenty of Public transport is ready available and your door step . PARKING : Only street parking available for guests, and is ticketed and limited to 2H Mon- Sat from 8am-10pm. Free and unlimited other times and Sundays. Not recommended. Longer term parking the closest is DIVVY parking at 28 Fitzroy St or St Margaret’s Car Park at 435 Bourke St. MID-STAY cleans Can be provided at extra cost.
