Sweet, rustic cottage for four
Description
For those who like the quiet, simple life, fresh air and beautiful sea views, this welcoming, rustic cottage, tucked away in a private lane, may be just right for you. One double and one twin bedroom, simple kitchen, lounge and bathroom facilities, parking and outside space to relax in. Ideal for a beach holiday, walking holiday, or simply somewhere to rest, replenish and refresh. Try the marvellous sea food on offer at restaurants and fisheries in the general area. NB: NO UNDER-FIVES. The space The cottage has two bedrooms on the upper floor, one with a double bed, the other with two single beds. Downstairs there is a lounge/kitchen and bathroom with bath and a shower over. This cottage was last renovated in the early 1970s, it has the basics and essentials, and you can reasonably expect charm but not ‘all mod cons’ :). There is a lawned garden with low stone walls and a stunning view of the sea and lighthouse. The beautiful sunsets watched from this garden are a particular feature of the property. There is a rustic table and a bench, plus two folding garden chairs in the shed. There is parking for two cars. The cottage is not suitable for children under five years old, or children who are unable or unwilling to follow common sense safety instructions. This is an old fashioned property with quirks and eccentricities, please enjoy your time, but be sensible and read the safety notes :) We provide some items to get you started but for stays more than a weekend, you will probably need to top these up: toilet rolls, salt and pepper, tea bags, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid and hand soap etc. Bedding and towels are provided, but please do not take our towels to the beach - please bring your own beach towels :) Guest access Access to the cottage is via a tiny lane off a cul de sac in Lower Boscaswell, there is a key box for entry, directions and code will be sent nearer the time. There is a small step up inside the front door where the doormat lies and access to the upper floor is via wooden stairs. Other things to note PLEASE: be polite enough not to turn up with unexpected extra guests above the number you have made clear and booked for and agreed at the time of your booking. Max four guests. IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES: The last thing we want to do is limit your fun, but safety matters, so please read these notes and share them with any children. This is an old fashioned property, please be mindful that properties like this tend to have eccentricities, gadgets and layouts that are not common in modern homes. This is not a place for children under five years old, or older children who are unable or unwilling to follow safety instructions. The stairs are wooden, so we advise not to wear socks that could slip - use bare feet or slippers that grip. The larger upper windows have keys, please check these on arrival and instruct children that upper interior window sills are not places for play, in order to avoid accidents. Window keys in the bedroom can be removed from locked windows and left out of children’s’ reach in the china dish in the room for safe-keeping. We ask you not to smoke, use candles or lighted flames indoors, but we have provided a lantern for outdoor use - it gets very dark at night here but the good news is that you get a very clear view of the stars :). The hot water and heating system is new. Water can run hot, so please be careful when filling sinks or baths. The garden walls are fairly low, please remind children not to climb on them as rocks can become loose and they could fall. The driveway from the front of the house to the access lane is not high-traffic, but it is open and used by the neighbours coming and going, so please be mindful of children who might run into the lane.
