The old café

Welcome to our lovely, unusual old house in Visseltofta, a small picturesque village as close to the Småland border as you can get in Skåne. The old café is located both in the middle of the village and close to nature with an adjacent meadow and nature plot with a small stream. Over the years, it has been an obvious meeting point as a café, banquet hall, telephone exchange, hairdressing salon, library and meringue bakery. Now you too can be part of its colorful history. Welcome! The space The old cafe is spacious both inside and outside and sleeps 10 people. The old party hall along with the big kitchen is the heart of the house and the combination is perfect for big dinners. The many rooms make it possible both to retreat with a book or for the whole gang to gather around board games or good conversations. Every room in the house carries on its own story – the party hall that escaped everything from weddings to funerals, the cafe room where the village's youth gathered, the library that offered new worlds, the hair salon where the ladies shingled their hair, the telephone switch (later phone cab), and not least the meringue bakery. In the basement of the house, the legendary Visseltofto cake – a pragmatic and very good solution to the problem that the baker became allergic to flour. History has given the house its unique charm with some both exciting and less practical solutions, like many small prongs and that there are three toilets and a sauna but only one shower. The large garden is lined with a horse pasture and a rippling river. The lawn is good for games and games while a cooling ride on the wild and almost hidden plot down towards the shallow Lillån is romantic and exciting! We look forward to inviting you to a lovely stay in our old cafe. Welcome! Guest access As guests in the old café, you can rummage around in approximately 140 square meters on three floors. The large living room, dining room, kitchen, a large hall, a restroom and one bedroom are on the ground floor. The upstairs houses the other three bedrooms as well as two small living rooms and a toilet. And in the basement, you have access to a washing machine and freezer, sauna and bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. The large garden is lined with a horse pasture and a rippling river. Other things to note Visseltofta is a picturesque and lively little village where neighbors, among other things, have dogs, cats, chickens, horses and sheep. Within close walking distance of the house there is both a public swimming area (at the old stone bridge at Helge river) and a playground (at the homestead farm). Some week during the summer all children are welcomed to swimming school in Vesljungasjön which is about 5 km away. It is a nice swimming lake with sandy beach and jetty. Visseltofta is a village with several active associations.
