The space Piemonte’s charm won us over, but Casa Profumi di Barbera is truly special because of our family’s heart and soul poured into it. We found a gem in San Martino Alfieri, its views of rolling hills and vineyards inspiring our dream infinity pool. The property’s winemaking past, with old barrels hinting at Barbera’s legacy, adds unique character. Our name reflects Barbera’s raspberry and vanilla aromas, captured in our two homes—Lampone and Vaniglia. What sets us apart is our family’s unity: we brought these homes to live together with our children. Our son, an engineer-architect, leveraged his expertise as an engineer-architect, designed and followed up on the renovations, while our daughter used her passion for cosy interiors to infuse the spaces with warmth and charm. Together, we’ve turned a dream into reality! After an intense restoration journey, we brought the property into the modern era while keeping its timeless soul intact. Original treasures like the brick vaults, cotto tiles, and lusern natural stone staircase have been lovingly preserved, blending history with comfort. Casa Profumi di Barbera in San Martino Alfieri is situated bang in the middle of the Langhe, Monferrato, and Roero regions, offering breathtaking views of vineyards and the castles of San Martino Alfieri and Govone. Tucked away on a quiet hilltop, this location enjoys a unique microclimate. The weather is often just a little better than in the surrounding valley, with a gentle afternoon breeze offering welcome relief on hot summer days. The ‘quaglia’-neighborhood offers peace and quiet yet the buzz of Asti and Alba is just a hop away via the main roads. A leisurely stroll (1.6km) lands you in the charming village centre of San Martino Alfieri, packed with essentials: a grocery shop, an ATM, a local café, and a few restaurants. The star of the show? The majestic Marchesi Alfieri Castle, crowning the hill surrounded by parkland.
