Karhu Mökki, cabin and sauna

Description

Experience the adventure of disconnection in the heart of Finnish Lapland. Equipped log cabin, secluded in the middle of the boreal forest, close to the river leading to Lake Pyhäjärvi (canoe available on site; and during the winter, snowshoes or skis). An unspoiled place, away from the world, ideal to recharge your batteries, live an extraordinary and off-grid stay. PLEASE NOTE, this type of stay is not for everyone, please read the description before booking. The space Spacious 70 m² cabin with a living area with TULIKIVI masonry stove, a large corner sofa, a kitchen with all the dishes, many utensils and a double burner gas stove, as well as a solid wood table for 4-6 people. It has 2 bedrooms: - One bedroom with double bed (160 x 200), a raised bed of 120 x 200 (for one adult or 2 children) with its own wood stove. An extra 90 x 200 mattress is also available under the main bed. - A bedroom with 2 single beds, a large closet and a dresser (2 extra mattresses are under the beds, if needed). The sauna is located 10 m from the cabin and also serves as a bathroom. It is equipped with 2 stoves: one to heat the stones and the other to heat a large supply of water that will allow you to wash (and possibly do a small laundry). On the camp, you will also find a wooden shelter where you can use logs, dry compost toilets, a semi-buried pantry as well as a kennel for 1-2 dogs. On this side of the lake, we are the only owners in the heart of nature. We have a second Poro Mökki cabin, located 200 m away, also available for rent. We leave at your disposal: - snow shovel - manual ice auger - buckets to carry water - waterproof canister - 2-3 seater canoe, with 2 paddles - 4 life jackets - topographic maps of the area - a pulka sled (to transport your belongings, water, etc. in winter) and a wheelbarrow to transport equipment during the summer. - snowshoes (2 adult pairs + 2 children's pairs) - cross-country skiing for children with shoes and poles - small DIY equipment - wood saw, axe - mosquito net Guest access Access to the entire camp: cabin and outbuildings Other things to note Reminder: This is an off-grid camp in the wilderness. A good mastery of some fundamentals of outdoor life is necessary in order to have a pleasant stay in this exceptional setting. There is NO RUNNING WATER. Depending on the season, access to water will be directly at the well located behind the sauna; either to the river on an open water area in winter (located about 30m away), using cans made available to you, as well as a pulka traineau ski or snowshoe. This water is pure and unpolluted, we have consumed it without treatment for more than 10 years. There is NO ELECTRICITY. Lighting is done through candles (included) and headlamps (not included). However, if you have a generator, you can plug it into the outside of the cabin or better still if you have an Ecoflow type portable electric station, you can connect it directly inside the cabin. These power supplies will take you to operate a complete power grid with power outlets and lighting. Heating is by a TULIKIVI stove. This is a mass stove that allows the radiation of heat for 12-24 hours after 1-3 h of a flare-up. On the other hand, this mode of heating does not allow a quick temperature rise in the middle of winter. For example, if it is -20° C, it will take a full day of heating before obtaining a comfortable temperature (16-20° C). For the optimal use of this heating mode, we have written a detailed instruction manual that is essential to read before any use. The bedroom with double bed has its own classic wood burning stove (JOTUL) which allows very fast heating. The outdoor toilets are obviously not heated... No WiFi. On the other hand, the phone/ internet network is very good. BED LINEN IS NOT PROVIDED. We provide mattresses with protection/mattress pads, pillows and duvet (+ extra blankets and blankets if needed). So you'll need to bring bed sheets, duvet cover (or sleeping bags directly), pillowcase, bath towels and tea towels. There is NO HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE. We want to maintain an operation based on autonomy and trust, that is to say that cleaning must be done at the end of your stay, the garbage cans thrown into the containers located by the side of the road, the dry toilet emptied in the composter, so as to leave the camp in the condition in which you found it. There will be an extra charge if this guideline is broken.
