Nothing beats the freedom and truly memorable experiences of hiring the Warthog Lodge Open Game Viewing Vehicle and going on your self-drive safari adventure through most of the Reserve. You never know which animal you might find around the next corner. Nature's clock binds animals, so the best times for game drives are at first light and dusk. The temperatures are cool in the early mornings, so the animals are very active. Pack some coffee and rusks, drive to the Western Reserve (only green game viewing vehicles allowed), and stop at one of the many dams in the area. Listen to the early morning bird calls, and if you are lucky, you might spot a Brown Hyena coming for its last drink of water before going off to rest for the day. Afterward, slowly head back to Warthog Lodge, where you can prepare a hearty breakfast in the well-appointed kitchen. Enjoy breakfast on the Warthog Lodge main deck with the Bull Bulls, Hornbills, and Francolins, who are all in attendance. Late afternoon, do a drive to Ghorkum Dam to see the hippos. Enjoy a gin and tonic while watching them play, then leave the dam at dusk and forage in the veld. As it gets dark, meander back to Warthog Lodge for a bush braai in the Boma. Other things to note Our local Warthog family will welcome you! They will try their best to get fed by you, but please resist the temptation. Remember that all animals visiting Warthog Lodge are wild. Please do not attempt to touch them in any way. We also offer the following at an additional cost: 1.
