Description

Modern ensuite room with separate entrance in a bungalow in Grindley Brook, Whitchurch situated in extensive landscaped gardens adjacent to the Llangollen Canal which you can see from your room. Secure parking behind electric gates in a quiet location on the Sandstone Trail yet close to the market town of Whitchurch just 5 mins drive with its independent pubs, shops and restaurants and 30 mins drive to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Iscoyd Park less than 10 mins drive if you're attending a wedding. The space Our home is situated on the Cheshire/Shropshire border in Grindley Brook. Its location is secluded yet 2 mins walk to an independent pub which serves excellent food and drinks, the cheapest petrol station in the UK (yes really!) and less than 10 mins walk along the towpath to the Lockside Cafe situated next to Grindley Brook Staircase Locks which do yummy breakfasts, hot and cold drinks, cakes and a variety of sandwiches and snacks (and if you stay with us you get a 10% discount). It's just a 5 min drive to Whitchurch town with a range of independent shops, pubs and restaurants (two Michelin star restaurants). The train station is also just a 5 min drive where there is free parking and it's then less than 20 mins to Shrewsbury or 10 mins to Nantwich. Chester is less than 30 mins drive away or there is a bus stop less than 5 mins walk from us which will take you to and from Chester (bus 41 although no service in the evenings and limited at weekends). Within 20 mins drive is Alderford Lake, Hawkstone Park Follies and Brown Moss. Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is around a 30 minute drive. If you are hiring a narrowboat from Wrenbury Mill or Chas Hardern, its around a 15 minute drive and Whitchurch Marina is less than 5 mins drive. Our bungalow itself is situated down a lane (no through road) over a canal bridge behind secure electric gates with plenty of parking. The room is a private ensuite room (own entrance via patio door and no access to/from main house - see the window and door on the far left of the photo). The room doors open to a stunning view of the Llangollen Canal and landscaped garden and there is plenty of seating outside the room and under the pergola to watch the narrowboats go by. If you are feeling more active we have two bikes you are welcome to borrow and avid gardeners are welcome to lend a hand 😁 Board games and books are also available to occupy yourself if it is raining. We have a SMART TV with Netflix and catch up channels (no live TV). We have some very friendly free range ex battery hens that will keep you entertained and treats are available for you to feed them. We also have a cat called Simba we adopted recently from the RSPCA. The cat (and chickens!) do not enter the Airbnb. Due to this and allergies, we do not accept any pets. This is non-negotiable. Please note the property is unsuitable for younger children due to the proximity of the canal and a fast flowing bywash. The room has a double bed, practical storage outside for muddy walking boots etc and an ensuite room with shower. There is a kettle in the room with a range of teas and coffee for you to make yourself a cuppa and a fridge for you to store items in too. We also have plates, glasses and cutlery in the room if you are ordering a takeaway or are bringing anything back to eat. We don't have cooking facilities but you'll be spoilt for choice in Whitchurch and surrounding areas, it is a foodie heaven! Please ask us for recommendations as we can give lots of suggestions. The space also has underfloor heating in winter and plenty of storage space. We have extensive gardens with plenty of seating all around so please feel free to explore it all! If you are walking the Sandstone Trail then we offer free pick up or drop off at the start/finish in Whitchurch Jubilee Park (please check with us first and confirm dates). You are also welcome to leave your car in our driveway pre/post walking - please confirm this with us before booking incase we have other guests. You will pass our house whilst walking the Sandstone Trail at Canal Bridge 28 Grindley Brook (non-towpath side). If you are arriving by train to Whitchurch please ask for our free pick up and and drop off for check in/out and we will come and get you (please check first before booking). If you are attending a wedding at Iscoyd Park its a 7 minute drive or just over 3 miles. Whitchurch does not have reliable Uber so please do not rely on this. You will need to book a taxi in advance and we have a couple of reliable taxi firms we can recommended. Drop us a messge and we will do our best to help. Guest access We have secure parking behind electric gates and you will be provided with a gate fob for the duration of your stay (£25 charge to replace if lost). We have plenty of private secure parking for you to turn round etc. The room itself has a lock on the patio door to secure it and there is no access from the ensuite room to the rest of the house (locked door). Check in is from 3pm until 8pm. If you are attending a wedding you will need to check in during these times and NOT midnight after the wedding finishes (earlier check in from 12 will incur a fee of £15 payable on arrival - please check before booking we can accommodate an early check in. During your stay We are Rachel and Shell. We are avid travellers having visited all continents of the world and close to 100 countries. We would like to think our travelling experience, along with stays in a fair few Airbnbs, including on our wedding day, has given us a good idea of what makes an amazing Airbnb stay. We would love you to come and stay with us and hope you enjoy our home as much as we do. We will be around for any guests and if its a nice sunny day we will likely be doing some gardening, our other full time job! We are happy to leave you to it but also enjoy chatting to guests and will give you lots of info about the local area or if you want to talk about anything travel related that is our favourite subject! Other things to note For any international travellers without transport we may be able to pick up and drop off at Whitchurch train station for your arrival and departure - please message us before booking to check with us first. Otherwise an Uber is around £55-£65 one way from the airport to Whitchurch (we can confirm this works fine as we use it frequently).
