Beautifully refurbished 2 double bedroom cottage. Modern, yet maintaining character and charm * Choose from double and super king or double and twin beds * In Snowdonia National Park and UNESCO World Heritage site * 2 min walk to pub/restaurant * 10 minutes to the coast/beach * 4 miles to Cadair Idris * 2 miles to Talyllyn Lake * Stunning views and walks straight from the door alongside waterfalls * 10 min walk to Talyllyn steam railway * Local café 1 min walk away * Dogs go free The space Cuddfan (the Hideaway) is a Grade II listed slate quarryman’s cottage that has been refurbished to a very high standard. It sits at the edge of Abergynolwyn, a charming village nestled at the meeting point of the Nant Gwernol and Afon Dysynni. The village was founded in the 1860s to house workers from the Bryn Eglwys quarry, the dramatic remains of which can be found in the hills behind the cottage. The area is now a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. - “Little Gem of a cottage. Beautifully restored, and in a stunning part of the country” - “Lovely property that’s been beautifully renovated. Everything has been finished to such a lovely standard.” It has many original features including original slate fireplace and slate flag flooring in the lounge. Ceiling beams downstairs but the ceiling height is high, so no risk of hitting your head! Solid oak doors throughout the cottage. - “Modern appliances, hi-tech, without losing its cosy charming feel” On the ground floor, there is a spacious through lounge with separate dining and laundry area. This leads through to the fully equipped shaker style kitchen with Neff induction hob, fan-oven, integrated fridge and a dishwasher. - “lovely character, the kitchen is modern and immaculate" In the lounge there is an internet enabled 43 inch UHD 4K SMART TV to log in to and watch your favourite programmes. There is also a wonderful wood burner in the lounge. - “the log fire was soooo cosy, we didn’t want to leave” Upstairs there are two double sized bedrooms and the newly fitted shower room. Bedrooms can be configured as either double bed and super-king-size bed or double bed and twin beds. Ideal for both families or two couples sharing. Please let us know how you would like the beds set up at the time of booking. - “The bedrooms are a great size and stayed warm at night.” Outside, steps lead up to the private, enclosed cottage garden with a choice of two seating areas: at the upper end is a slate patio with furniture and fire-pit/griddle, perfect for alfresco dining; at the lower end is a stylish decking area with bistro set, ideal for morning coffee. Nothing behind the property, except open fields, mountains and peace and quiet. You may hear the occasional toot of the Talyllyn steam railway as it makes it way up through the woods to Nant Gwernol station, a short 10 minute walk from Cuddfan alongside a cascading river. The hillside path leading up from the cottage is also a fabulous spot for stargazing on a clear night, ideally placed within the Snowdonia Dark Sky Reserve. - “The location is just out of this world. The drive into the valley is like something out of a movie, going through huge peaks either side towards a lake. Every time we came in I was blown away” - “The walk alongside the waterfalls just a few minutes walk from the cottage is incredibly beautiful, and I had a wonderful swim in one of the pools” - “The dogs loved the walking trails right from the back door (the views are to die for)” A simply wonderful location surrounded by the incredible scenery of the Snowdonia National Park. Only 10 minute drive to glorious coastline and beaches. - “Lovely location and feels very remote, yet only a short drive from a wide range of shops and the sea front” - “Stay here once, and you’ll want to return” Dogs welcome (maximum of 2 small/medium size). Guest access You are booking the exclusive use of Cuddfan. Private reserved parking for one vehicle is directly outside the front door. Other things to note The cottage has a log burner and a steep narrow staircase which may make it unsuitable for young children or if you have mobility problems.
