Ally’s Farmhouse

Drive through a working sheep farm to this roomy house surrounded by woods and fields. You'll find a large cabin with a roomy porch and a 30' x 30' sitting room with a large open fireplace, comfortable armchairs and a pool table. There are boardgames, cards, chess, jigsaw puzzles, library, wifi streaming via AT&T AirNet (= wireless modem, can be slow, and is affected by stormy weather). Patio with a gas barbecue. Fishing at two small ponds. Farm walks. Sleeps 11 with a queen inflatable. The space The main floor includes the living room, kitchen, master bedroom, bathroom, and laundry. The upper floor has two bedrooms, bathroom, and linen closet. Each floor has its own HVAC (natural gas furnace and air conditioner) unit and thermostat controls. Toddler gates at top and bottom of interior stairs. MASTER BEDROOM on main level. Large, about 20' x 11'. Three double windows. King size bed in nook 9’ x 8’ with double windows on two sides. Light blocking curtains. Dressers, hanging closet, & luggage rack. Twin bed behind a screen. TWO BEDROOMS UPSTAIRS, each about 13’x12’. Skylight in each room. Attic ceilings. Light-blocking window curtains. West room has one queen size bed, one window, a small walk-in closet, shelves, luggage rack, chairs, cedar chest. The east room has a queen size bed, a twin bed, French door accessing a small deck (where fire escape ladder is stored), hanging closet, and shelves. LIVING ROOM, large, about 30’x30’. One half has a leather sofa, armchair, and recliner, & a cloth armchair arranged around a large wood-burning fireplace. TV. Streaming through AT&T wireless modem. DirecTV via parabola. Shelves with books and games. Other half of the room contains a pool table, sofa, chairs, bookcase, sideboards, and a twin bed. There is space for the inflatable 12'' queen mattress with back rest to be set up by the TV. KITCHEN-DINING A large eat-in kitchen equipped with dish washer, gas stove/oven, 12-cup coffee maker, a French press, slow cooker, microwave, mixer, food processor, soup wand. There is a bench-height drinks fridge in addition to a large two-door fridge with freezer below. Fridge does not have an ice maker, but the freezer is stocked with bagged ice. Kitchen island with chairs, large rustic barn-board table plus chairs. Kitchen is stocked with plates, cutlery, basic condiments, tea and coffee, table cloths, paper products, dish washing soaps. WRAP-AROUND PORCH: Front section measures 10’ x 26’ not counting steps and walkway. The side porch measures 8’ x about 24’, where kids can enjoy playing cornball or skittles. Porch gate prevents most dogs from wandering. The TWO BATHROOMS are basic. Showers but no baths. Two toilets. LAUNDRY is available for guest use. PATIO is covered by shade cloth, and has a table & chairs for four, with more chairs stored on front porch. Gas barbecue. ASHTRAYS available outside for smokers. Please do not throw stubs on ground! Guest access Guests have access to the entire main floor and upper floor. For wheelchair access, or to carry in supplies/luggage, drive around the lower side of house to the top side, and park beside the wheelchair ramp that leads to the kitchen door. Parking area accommodates six vehicles. (If towing a long trailer, turning room will be tight - suggest you unhitch and leave it in front of first barn.) Garage and basement are closed to guests. Other things to note Cats once lived on the main floor of the house. Cat dander has been mostly eradicated over time, but some might remain. People who suffer from allergies are advised to bring their medications. Also, please be aware that spring and fall bring heavy loads of pollen to this area of Kentucky. Please bring your allergy meds with you to avoid an allergy attack ruining your stay! Two cats live in the garage & have their own cat door and food. Ginger is flirty, and may beg for attention. Respond as you wish, but don’t let her inside, please. Five cats live in the barn near the farm entrance. They are tame-ish and LOVE it when folks bring them snacks.
