Ally’s Farmhouse

Drive through a working farm to this roomy house surrounded by woods. Enjoy the large open fireplace or play pool in the big sitting room, sit out on the large porch, or barbecue on the patio. Fish at either of two ponds, or paddle around the pond in the canoe. House sleeps eleven. Boardgames, cards, chess, jigsaw puzzles, library, TV streaming. Allergy alert: Cats formerly lived in this house, dander may remain. Also, Kentucky woods can trigger allergies. The space The main floor ( living, kitchen, master bedroom, bathroom, laundry) and the upper floor (two bedrooms & bathroom) each have their own HVAC (natural gas furnace and air conditioner) unit and thermostat. MASTER BEDROOM on main level. Extra large. Three double windows. King size bed in nook 9’ x 8’ with two windows. Additional area is 12’x11’ with dressers, shelves & luggage rack, and space for the queen size inflatable mattress that can be set up on request. TWO BEDROOMS UPSTAIRS, each about 13’x12’. Skylight in each room. Attic ceilings. West room has one queen size bed, one window, a small walk-in closet, shelves, luggage rack, chairs, cedar chest. The east room has queen size bed, a twin bed, French door accessing a small deck, hanging closet, and shelves. LIVING ROOM, very large, about 30’x30’. One half is arranged with leather sofa and armchairs around a large wood-burning fireplace. TV. (Streaming with Amazon, and DIRECTV), shelves with books and games. Other half of the room contains a pool table, sofa, chairs, bookcase, sideboards. The living room also includes two twin beds with 12” mattresses on portable frames. One twin is in the back corner behind the TV, the other is in the corner near the pool table. KITCHEN-DINING A large eat-in kitchen equipped with the usual appliances (dish washer, gas stove/oven, coffee maker, slow cooker, microwave, sous vide, purée wand, mixer, food processor, Ninja processor). There is a bench-height drinks fridge in addition to a standard large fridge. Fridge does not have an ice maker, but the freezer is stocked with bagged ice. Kitchen island with chairs, large rustic barn-board table. Kitchen is stocked with plates, cutlery, basic condiments, tea and coffee, table cloths, paper products, dish washing soaps. WRAP-AROUND PORCH: Front section measures 10’ x 26’ not counting steps and passsgeway. The side porch measures 8’ x about 24’. Cornball set and firewood wagon are stored at far end. Guest access Guests have access to the entire main floor (porch, living room, kitchen-dining, master bedroom, bathroom, laundry) and upper floor (two bedrooms, bathroom). For wheelchair access, or to carry in supplies/luggage, drive around the lower side of house to the top side, and park beside the wheelchair ramp that leads to the kitchen door. Parking area accommodates six vehicles. Garage and basement are closed to guests. Other things to note Cats once frequented the main floor of the house. Steps have been taken to eradicate cat dander, but some remains. People who suffer from allergies are advised to bring their medications. Also, please be aware that spring and fall bring heavy loads of pollen to this area of Kentucky. Please bring your allergy meds with you to avoid an allergy attack ruining your stay! Two cats live in the garage & have their own cat door and food. Fluffy Ginger may beg for attention. Respond as you wish. Five cats live in the barn near the farm entrance. They are tame-ish and love it when children bring them snacks.
