Welcome to Wongema, a special inn in tiny Hornhuizen, near the Wadden Sea. A place for dreamers, thinkers and doers. Settle down in room 4, a cozy single room with a comfortable bed, a work table and storage space. You share the shower and toilet with one other room. What are you doing in Wongema? Room 4 is a nice and simple single room with idyllic views of the old church, a good bed, a small desk and space to hang your clothes. Across the hallway you will find the shared bathroom. In the hallway, there are also 6 rooms for a total of 8 people. Downstairs in the café, you can relax. Here you can enjoy a meal at the regulars' table, hang out on the couch, play hooky, play games and work on your (creative) project undisturbed. There is a piano, a record player and a well-stocked bookcase. In good weather, the terrace is open. Wongema is located opposite the church in the tiny North Groningen village of Hornhuizen. Next to the Lauwersmeer, on the Waddendijk. From the church tower, you can see Schiermonnikoog. In addition to the rugged nature of the lake and sea, there are fields with potatoes, grain and sugar beets. In half an hour, you can walk to the salt marsh, and there are plenty of beautiful nature areas nearby. The land is flat, the view is far. This is where the Netherlands ends. And where it begins. Wongema can also be reached by phone and email. Other things to note VILLAGE You are a guest in a rural village with many residents who have to leave in the morning before dawn. Make sure you do not cause a nuisance to local residents and keep things clean. NOISE Realize that sound carries far in this flat, quiet land. Hornhuizen is important to Wongema, we value a good relationship with our neighbors. That's why no music can be played outside. If you play music indoors, make sure it can't be heard outside. If you are outside after 10 p.m., please keep it quiet. FIRE Fire in the fire pit outside (at the front) only in consultation with Wongema. ACCESSIBILITY Wongema is easily accessible by public transport. Travel by train to Winsum, take bus 68 there and get off at the stop "Hornhuizen, Kerk" in front of Wongema's door. Always check the timetable in advance, the bus does not run at night. Parking is available at the church. NEARBY All the necessary amenities are nearby. For groceries, a bakery or drugstore, you can go to Leens (5 minutes by car, 15 minutes by bike, 1 hour walk). For more extensive amenities and shops, you can visit Winsum (15 minutes by car), voted one of the most beautiful villages in the Netherlands.
