Description

If you are looking for a simple seaside cottage with rustic charm, this may be the place for you. Located just 30m from the sea this two bedroom cottage offers spectacular views across North Bay, home to local wildlife such as otters, seals and the occasional sea eagle. Enjoy a roaring fire while the wind howls round the chimneys. Explore the vast white beaches and the rugged shoreline of this magical island in winter. See the Milky Way for the first time. Adventure is waiting for you. The space This cottage is for hardy adventurers only. It is the perfect island hideaway offering simple accommodation for up to four people and provides the complete antithesis to a busy, stressful, inner city life style. It has retained its nautical charm and offers uninterrupted views over North Bay. Located on a cul-de-sac close to the shore, the only noise you'll be likely to hear are the distant engines of the fishing boats leaving the bay or returning with their catch, the howls of the seals or the cries of the odd sea gull. Sitting on a sheep skin on the Victorian sofa by the roaring fire can be as magical as catching the morning sun sparkle across the bay from the blue bench. But regardless of the time of year, you'd need to pack your warmest fleece, gloves, hats, socks, we're in the Outer Hebrides after all. During the summer months the island is a great place for beach combers, nature lovers and families. Between October and March the cottage is suitable for hardy visitors only, who are able to set a coal fire, even with wet coal, and who are experienced outdoor enthusiasts. The cottage offers fast broadband and there is EE reception. There is small stereo/ radio player with an eclectic selection of CDs and there are lots of games, books and jigsaws. The cottage is heated by three oil-filled mobile radiators in addition to the open fire for which we provide plenty of coal. All beds have four season duvets and electric blankets to ensure a cosy night's sleep. You'll find a well-equipped kitchen with a washing machine, dishwasher, cooker, a small fridge and a micro-wave. What my friends and I love most about the cottage is the breathtaking ever changing light across the bay and the beautiful sunsets over the western hills. The cottage is non-smoking and we have a strict no pets policy. Please be aware that there is no tv. Fibreoptic broadband allows streaming. Guest access Guests have access to the whole cottage and to the garden which leads down to the shore. There are two parking spaces in front of the cottage. Other things to note The cottage is non-smoking. Sorry, no pets allowed. We ask all guests not to bring any driftwood into or anywhere near the cottage to help avoid wood infestation. While coal is provided, guests are asked to bring firelighters, newspaper and kindle. Registration Details ES00531F
