A hidden, hand-built sanctuary on 1,137 acres of wild Tasmanian wilderness. Ten Fifty Bakers is an off-grid luxury retreat with panoramic views, timber interiors, outdoor baths, and cinematic stillness. Designed for those who crave space, silence, and something truly rare. The space The house was built in 1981 by a local sawmiller and features Tasmanian speciality timbers and impressive workmanship. It was renovated in 2024 with extensive landscaping works and the addition of a wood fired sauna and 4 outdoor 2 person baths. The house features a wraparound veranda and external timber cladding. It has 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 living areas. One bathroom can be either used as an ensuite or available to other guests. 4 of the bedrooms have King size beds that can be split into twin beds if required. The fifth room has a double bed. The kitchen is fully equipped and the beds, linen and blankets etc are all of the quality you’d see in a luxury resort. Bookings for up to 4 guests include use of 2 bedrooms. Additional rooms are unlocked as guests are added. The house is designed as a haven from the outside world with spectacular views over Narawntapu National Park to Bass Strait. You will be immersed in nature without sacrificing any of the creature comforts. The wood heater creates a relaxing atmosphere and can be supplemented by a gas heater, when necessary, in winter. Quality Waverly Woollen Mill blankets are also provided. Guests have access to full 460ha bush property. To put that in context, it’s more than twice the size of Monaco and big enough for 4,000 standard house lots. All this, 30 minutes from Devonport (airport and Spirit of Tasmania terminal) and 1 hour from Launceston (and the Launceston airport). There’s lots of tourist attractions and activities within 45 minutes including the famous Seahorse World and Platypus House. Guest access The entire house is available for guests to use including the 460ha property and the adjoining Narawntapu National Park and Briggs Regional Reserve. Other things to note Please be aware that Ten Fifty Bakers is a half hour drive from the nearest shopping facilities and it will be necessary to bring your own food and provisions for your stay.
