There is a wonderful and very spacious covered terrace in the front which provides a great place to hang your hammock and laze away the afternoon while feeling sea breezes from the Gulf of Mexico just across the street. Car rental is recommended for longer excursions but local moto-taxis are available for short trips into Chelem or Chuburna plus combi service into Progreso and Merida is easily accessible from the main peninsula road. Once you have checked in and settled yourself he will pop over to introduce himself and provide a brief orientation of the property and answer any questions you may have. He is available for short excursions at an additional fee and is always there for my guests who find themselves in need of anything during their stay. Local moto taxis are for hire at very reasonable rates to drive you to either Chelem (4 kms) or Chuburna Puerto (2.5 kms). There are names/numbers for moto taxi operators in my welcome book. Local colectivos (mini vans) run between Chuburna, Chelem and Progreso every 30 minutes and can be caught on Calle 9 (the main road - approximately 300 metres walk from Casa Leila). From Progreso it is very easy to ride a comfortable bus into Merida and back. Due to the addition of palapa grass on the entire back yard fence there is a strictly enforced NO SMOKING policy in the entire back yard! If you absolutely must smoke on the property it is only permitted on the front terrace and you are expected to pick up and dispose of your butts in a responsible manner. Failure to abide by this rule will result in forfeiture of your security deposit.
