The space A rustic but modern villa: Our accommodation was originally built over 30 years ago from a small stone house. It has been carefully renovated, combining rustic charm with modern comfort. The property is located on a large plot of 30 acres that goes up to a cliff with stunning views of the sea. Although the house maintains many of its original features, such as traditional Portuguese brickwork and tiles (which are no longer manufactured) and various antiques and relics from the Azores, it is fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, with large beds with memory foam mattresses , bathroom with bathtub and shower, large wardrobes in the bedrooms, a very comfortable sofa, and all the electrical appliances you will need. Private Outdoor Oasis: In addition to its welcoming interior, you will have exclusive use of a private outdoor space with several leisure areas, perfect for relaxing. Also a wood or charcoal barbecue for outdoor dining and outdoor furniture, including super comfortable armchairs, dining table, umbrella, chairs, etc.. As night falls, you will hear the soft calls of the shearwaters (iconic sea birds of the Azores), known for their long migratory journeys, with Caloura being one of the protected and preferred destinations for these endangered birds. And don't forget to look up at the night sky, where you will be greeted by thousands of stars, far from the city lights. The layout of the house: Entrance hall Two double bedrooms: 1 king-size bed (59 inches X 79 inches) 1 queen-size bed (55 inches X 79 inches) Bathroom with bathtub and shower Open plan dining room and kitchen fully equipped with everything you need (in accordance with Portuguese law). As a guest, you will have the entire villa and private garden to yourself. The rest of the property is not yet accessible to the public. Although it is not possible to access the sea directly from the property, a short walk to the end of the cul-de-sac will take you to a cliff with stunning views of the coast and ocean and, if you are lucky, you might see some dolphins. Whether you want to relax by the sea, explore local history or experience the natural beauty of the Azores, Caloura offers a unique and peaceful retreat. For safety reasons (because it has steps), this accommodation is not suitable for people with limited physical mobility, wheelchairs and children under the age of 4/5. We offer all our customers a welcome basket with typical food products from the Azores. Guest access You will have the property and a private outdoor area all to you self. The entrance to the house is private. The house is not geminated so you will have all the tranquility you are looking for. You will have free parking at the door of the house. You can also find one of the best fish restaurants on the Island in Porto da Caloura and a bar with a wine cellar where you can enjoy good wines and cheese boards to the sound of instrumental music. Local attractions and activities: Caloura Cultural Center and Caloura Convent (Bateria de Nossa Senhora da Conceição). Swim in the clear waters of Porto da Caloura, in the natural pools of Cerco and Praia da Baixa d´Areia. Explore the underwater caves of Arcos da Caloura and enjoy various activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, diving, fishing, swimming with dolphins and many others related to the sea and nature. Just at 0,3 miles from our accommodation is Porto da Caloura, which has a Tourism Center where you can book and obtain information about all these and other activities. In the parish of Água de Pau, located about 1,2 miles from Caloura, you will find minimarkets, restaurants, bars, a gas station with an ATM, a pharmacy, among others. As Caloura is a protected and ecological area we ask that you turn off all the lights before leaving the house and close the taps tightly. Please note that this accommodation is surrounded by nature, and it is very important for us that there is no waste of energy and water. Whenever possible, try to separate waste. ATTENTION: Since January 1, 2025, the Azores began to apply Tourist Tax. In the municipality of Lagoa, the Tourist Tax is €2 per person per night for the first 3 nights of stay.
