Welcome to Hillside Cottage - a two-bedroom, self-contained cottage ideal for anyone seeking a private country escape with all the modern comforts. The cottage is 2 hours from Brisbane and is nestled into the glorious hills of Goomburra Valley along Main Range National Park. The cottage sits on a 45-acre cattle farm and offers stunning views of the local mountains and countryside. The cottage is very private and away from the road and neighbouring houses. The space The cottage was originally built in 1940 but has had extensions and improvements since then. It comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests. The cottage contains one master bedroom with a queen size bed and an ensuite bathroom fit with toilet, rain head shower and bathtub. The second bedroom (which was originally the sitting room and kitchen) also has a queen size bed and is next to the second bathroom containing a toilet and shower. All linen is provided with both beds containing sheets, a quilt and an extra blanket for the cooler months. During winter, electric blankets will also be fitted to provide additional warmth for guest. Towels are provided, along with a small supply of soap and toilet paper to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking essentials and includes cutlery, crockery, glasses, mugs, pots and pans, kettle, toaster, microwave, containers, oven, gas stove, a sizeable pantry, a 140-litre fridge/freezer and 6-seater dining table. The family room has a comfortable lounge, TV with free to air stations, DVD player with a selection of movies and a Wii with a few games. There are also some books, puzzles and games to help with relaxation time. The family room also contains a fireplace for added comfort and ambience on those cooler Goomburra nights. Even in the warmer months the nights and mornings can turn cool enough to enjoy the fire and always remember to bring a jumper with you just in case. Enough firewood will be supplied for your stay. There is a 2-car garage where guests can park their cars if they wish. The cottage has been fitted with a mobile phone booster so full mobile service is available with Telstra only. There is no Wi-Fi available, but you will be able to hotspot your phone to other devices in the cottage, including the smart TV if necessary. But don’t stay inside if the sun is shining gloriously - explore the farms 45-acres of beautiful Goomburra bush land! The front verandah overlooks the Goomburra Mountains and local farms. The cottage is part of a working farm that is home to around 60 Droughtmaster cattle and their cute calves (if you are visiting during calving season). The expansive verandah contains a table and chairs for outside dining, mosaic bistro table and two chairs for enjoying your morning tea and coffee, a hammock for an afternoon snooze and deck chairs for additional rest and relaxation at any time of the day, especially at sunset. Immerse yourself in the beautiful landscape surrounded by grazing cattle - it is truly a breathtaking place to unwind with a bottle of wine, a cheese and fruit platter and a good book! The back patio has an outdoor table, chairs and a BBQ for alfresco dining. There is also a fire pit overlooking more stunning views where you can relax around the ambience of a fire, toast some marshmallows if you wish, or simply just enjoy the country night sky. Just a short walk from the cottage is the work of a local artist. Or you can go for a bush walk and explore the grounds around the cottage. Just remember the farm rules - leave a gate as you find it and take your litter with you. You can also enjoy bird watching and parrot feeding. You may get a visit from the local king parrots in the morning and afternoon - definitely a sight to see! If you’re after a longer hike there are many walking tracks in the national park situated about 10 minutes drive from the cottage at the end of Inverramsay Road. Also close by are the local campgrounds (where weddings are held) and local shops for basic needs. The local community of Allora is a 25 minute drive and offers an IGA, chemist, local pub and bottle shop, butcher, doctors, fuel, cafes, barber and hairdresser. If you need more, the township of Warwick is a 40 minute drive and has everything else you would expect to see at home - major supermarkets, fast food restaurants, specialty shops, cafes and heaps more. If you want to go wider afield, there are also other great things to see and do around the Southern Downs region, including the Glengallan Homestead and Heritage centre, Darling Downs Zoo, Queen Mary Falls and the Cobb and Co Museum in Toowoomba. PLEASE NOTE: We have a NO PETS policy, as we are a working cattle farm with calves and local wildlife that we want to keep safe. So, while we do love all animals, we request that you leave you furry family members at home or with someone you trust. Any pets found to have been staying will incur the guest a pet cleaning fee of $200 at a minimum. We look forward to hosting you. Guest access Guests have full use of the cottage and house yard as well as access to the surrounding farmland to experience outdoor adventures like hiking or bird watching.
