Description

Once upon a time, there was a valley—and it still is a valley. This is where Asbjørnsen and Moe collected their fairy tales! Stepping onto the farmyard at Nordigard Blessom feels like entering a true Norwegian folk tale—a piece of living history. According to legend, Nordigard Blessom is the oldest farm in Vågå, surrounded by historic and enchanting surroundings. The farm has its own folk tale: “The Giantess and Jehan’s Blessom”? Would you like to hear it? Welcome to the real adventure! The space Stay in a Piece of Norwegian History Your room is located in one of the beautifully restored 18th-century log buildings at Nordigard Blessom, a traditional working sheep farm dating back to the 1600s. The house was built in 1769 and has been carefully preserved, earning the prestigious Olavsrosa quality mark from the Norwegian Heritage Foundation for its commitment to cultural heritage. The room features a comfortable 150 cm wooden-framed bed and an additional 90 cm single bed, perfect for couples, friends, or small families. You'll also have your own private bathroom with a shower for added convenience. While you’ll be surrounded by history and craftsmanship, the room also includes modern comforts like WiFi, allowing you to stay connected if you wish. Nordigard Blessom has been home to the Blessom family for generations. For centuries, guests have been welcomed here with warm hospitality, hearty meals, and storytelling traditions that still live on. The village of Vågå has long been a favorite among artists and travelers, including English lords who were drawn to its picturesque timber houses and dramatic mountain landscapes. During your stay, you'll experience the peaceful charm of rural life while being just a short walk from the town center and the renowned restaurant Andre Etasje. In summer, you may spot sheep grazing in the hills behind the farm—a reminder that Nordigard Blessom is still a living, breathing piece of history. Whether you're here to relax, explore the nearby national parks (Jotunheimen, Rondane, Breheimen, Reinheimen), or use us as a base for visiting iconic sights like Galdhøpiggen, Besseggen, Geiranger, or Lom—we invite you to slow down and enjoy the unique atmosphere of our historic farm. Guest access Guest Access Guests staying in The Pink Room will have their own private bedroom and private bathroom. In addition, you'll have full access to the shared areas of the house, including: A small kitchen for self-catering, featuring all standard amenities such as a stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and washing machine. A spacious living room with a large dining table that seats up to 12 guests and a cozy fireplace – perfect for social meals or quiet evenings. Breakfast access: A healthy and delicious farm-style breakfast is included in your stay and served in the living room just outside your bedroom. We serve mostly homemade food, including home-baked bread, seasonal produce from the garden and our own strawberry jam – a guest favorite. You are also welcome to enjoy the outdoor areas of the farm, including the garden, courtyards, and peaceful spots around the buildings. Just behind the farm, you'll find scenic hiking trails that lead you into the hills and offer beautiful views over Vågå and the surrounding landscape. The house has three rooms in total and can accommodate up to 8–10 guests when all rooms are booked (subject to availability – feel free to message us to check). Nordigard Blessom is especially well-suited for guests who are interested in Norwegian cultural heritage, historic architecture, and restoration. The house you’ll stay in is from 1769 and has been carefully brought back to its original form, offering a unique and authentic experience of rural life in Gudbrandsdalen. Included in the price: ✔ Bed linen and towels ✔ Unlimited Wi-Fi ✔ Tea and coffee ✔ Healthy farm breakfast During your stay We live on the farm, so just send us a message here on Airbnb and we’ll help you with anything you need! If I’m not at the farm, my parents will be happy to assist you. Other things to note A Living Farm Nordigard Blessom is a working farm with active daily operations – not a typical hotel. Three generations live here together, including four children, and the farm is full of everyday life and authentic rural charm. Among the animals, you’ll find the beautiful and rare Old Norwegian Short Tail sheep (gammalnorsk spelsau), grazing in the lush cultural landscape surrounding the farm. A House with History The main farmhouse dates back to 1779 and has been carefully restored to its original state. That means some things might be a bit different from what you're used to – for example, the doorways are low, so remember to duck! The doors to the rooms are original and cannot be locked, which is part of the historical charm and experience. Personal Hosting We warmly and personally welcome every guest. Check-in takes place right here on the farm – we live here ourselves and always look forward to greeting both new and returning guests. We do our best to keep everything clean and comfortable, but it will never be like a regular hotel. Here, you’re living right in the middle of a vibrant, real-life farm – and that’s exactly the beauty of it. Follow Farm Life Want a glimpse into life on the farm? You can follow us on social media: @nordigard_blessom. We share photos and everyday moments – from cuddly lambs to farm work. If you take pictures or videos during your stay, we’d love it if you tag us – it’s always fun to see the farm through the eyes of our guests. New Life in Old Houses Our family is passionate about preserving cultural heritage and traditional building methods. That’s why you can also see us in the TV series New Life in Old Houses, which airs on SVTV, DR2, and NRK. Want to follow the restoration journey on social media? The account is @uleberg_1750. Feel free to follow us for updates and a peek into our daily life – and we’re always happy to follow back!
