Welcome to the cabin life! Our classic rustic charm at Black Bear Lookout is ideal any season as your authentic mountain getaway. Our 1969 A-frame features floor-to-ceiling windows assuring views of surrounding woodland trees. Laid out over 3 levels w 2-1/2 baths, one to each floor, four sleeping areas & sleeps 8 (+) in 6 beds (2 kings!) & futon-chair. Close to lake, golf, trails, skiing town & more. Follow check-out & get back 25% of cleaning fee! Dogs negotiable. Contract to acknowledge. ABOUT THE BLACK BEAR LOOKOUT This 1650 sq ft. A-frame is the depiction of a mountain cabin. You're guaranteed to feel like you're on vacation! The design is an authentic T&G timbered A-frame with traditional cabin-motif furnishings, decor, and more. This is a no frills, nothing fancy, yet by most, completely charming cabin! Though we sleep up to 10 and allow dogs, it will be crowded! Extra fees apply. Please consider the detailed description below, review photos closely, and ask us questions to clarify if our place will be a good fit for your group. We have between 4 & 5 parking spaces, with a city mandated 4 vehicles & 1 trailer limit (sizes need to be discussed to be sure there is ample space!!). This mountain cabin has been part of the recipe for so many fun-filled memories; we hope it works for you! AS YOU PULL into the driveway, you and 3 other vehicles park on what is considered the backside of the cabin. The door with the smart-lock is on this side of things. You’ll enter through the utility room (daylight basement level) where there are shelves and lockers filled with items for your convenience along with the washer & dryer. This is a great drop zone as you're unloading! Around the corner is a flex room that can meet your needs as an overflow family room OR bedroom. The bed is a comfortable king-size Murphy bed (you make), a love-seat sofa, futon chair (best for sleeping a child), an electric fireplace for both heat and ambiance, smart TV, and more. The bathroom on this level has the one (small!) shower. This area is cozy and fairly private, having most of the perks of a master suite bedroom. What's missing is a way to close it off from the lodge pole staircase and the utility room, and this (utility area) happens to be around a corner and mostly out of sight! MAIN FLOOR: A small yet well-appointed kitchen with more than all the basics, direct access to a small kitchen deck with a gas grill, and a spacious dining nook including seating for at least eight with large picture windows. To one side of this nook is a desk (if you must work) with a charging station for your devices. The opposite side has 2 rocking chairs that are great for drinks and quiet conversation yet also work for additional seating when moved into the family room. The family room has a smart TV connected to a Blu-ray player along with WiFi. Some apps are free, and others you'll need to log into your personal accounts. The family room also features a beautiful Jotel glass-door wood stove and floor to ceiling windows. One cannot control the weather, but there is always a beautiful timbered view! The large deck is strung with Edison bulb lights and surrounded by trees, providing a picturesque setting rain, snow, or shine. Adjacent to the family room is a bathroom with a small, antique, claw foot tub (no shower). TOP FLOOR: The first of the third floor’s three sleeping rooms features a king bed with heated mattress pad (wintertime), electric fireplace, dresser, garment & luggage racks (because there is no closet) and the aforementioned floor to ceiling windows with that fabulous timbered view. The smallest bedroom has a twin bed with a heated mattress pad, a storage closet with a small amount of hanging space available, and storage cabinet with a couple empty drawers you're welcome to use. One of the construction quirks (charm?) of this room does not provide for a door, but a privacy drape is hung to use as needed. These two bedrooms are separated by a staircase and landing with a half bathroom, which is right off the master bedroom, and the iconic, A-frame, high-pitched, OPEN CEILING spanning over all of this area (bathroom does have it's own enclosed ceiling under this "A" pitch). A photo of the king bedroom shows this open concept ceiling for you to have a closer look. The third room is a great bedroom for singles or a gaggle of kids with enclosed A-frame pitched ceiling, more floor to ceiling windows and a charming A-frame dormer; the large triangle window of the dormer opens to let in the summer breeze! Bunk beds are twin-over-full (not to be confused with a queen) each with wintertime heated mattress covers, along with a pullout trundle bed, which you make if needed, all perfect for your group. There is an electric faux wood stove heater, a dresser and a variety of toys including plenty of Teddy bears in all sizes (along with other forest friends), but best of all is a small play loft for the kids to climb up to, caution advised! *Please keep in mind things are not exactly as pictured, it is because with cleaning, we routinely rearrange furniture and swap quilts to chase away the dust bunnies and keep things fresh! ABOUT THE PROPERTY: Please note there is an exterior recording security camera. This cabin sits on a large lot with various pine trees in all stages of growth, and though others live and vacation in the area, there is a feeling of being away from it all yet just a short drive, less than 2 miles, to town. Enjoy yourselves on the large deck with ambient lighting, relax in the hammock, and listen to the breeze in the trees and roast marshmallows in our campfire area-it rocks! In the winter, you can grab the sleds and go down the back drive or snowbanks, try snow-shoeing across the meadow (2 adult pairs and two smaller pairs available), or build the proverbial snowman. Relaxation or play can happen without having to get into the car! THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA: *The nearest public beach, ROTARY PARK, includes a playground and is only a mile away. *The ever-popular NORTH BEACH is about 5 miles north up the road. *DOWNTOWN McCall is less than 2 miles away with 2 more beaches, dining, and shopping. *BROWN PARK (downtown) has undergone a beautiful family-friendly renovation! A must if you have littles! * For you skiers, BRUNDAGE MOUNTAIN is known for having the best snow and is only 10 miles west of the cabin. Beautiful TAMARACK skiing is about a 35-minute drive. *PONDEROSA STATE PARK is about 5 miles east. *There are trails throughout the area mountains for hiking, biking, snowmobiling, Nordic skiing, downhill skiing, ATV-ing, snowshoeing, & horseback riding. *GOLF COURSES: The closest is Whitetail Club. Others include: McCall Golf Club, Meadow Creek Golf Resort, and Jug Mountain Ranch. No matter what adventure you seek in coming to McCall, or if it's a relaxing escape you're looking for, the Black Bear Lookout is a perfect cabin to settle into! Ask us about our SUPs! To add to your fun, we offer two sturdy paddle board rentals at only $25/day, each... It's definitely the best deal in town!! Guests have access to the entire cabin and everything on the property, unless under lock. This includes firewood for indoor use, fire pit (use scrap/limb wood and save chopped firewood for indoor use), hammock, picnic table, Adirondack chairs, any available bikes and more. We cannot promise the condition of items; things happen and not always are damages reported to us. We apologize in advance for any disappointments!! We are up once a month for maintenance, and we do our best. The beach associated with Payette Lakes Club is for members ONLY. Oakwood Ln. is owned by PLC and bylaws state that play of any kind, including repetitive driving of off-road vehicles, is prohibited. Trails are nearby! We are available by phone, text/messaging, and email during your stay. The Ring Doorbell is not always useful for communication! It does chime on the middle floor, like an ordinary doorbell, so you'll know when someone rings it from outside. *Note: If something urgent comes up during the night, call our numbers repeatedly to bypass the "do not disturb" settings on our phones. There are many residents who reside here all year and are members of the Payette Lakes Club. This area, as a whole, lends to relaxation and peacefulness. We are part of this, with a relatively large lot, giving us plenty of distance between our place and other homes, but still very close to town, trails, Brundage mountain, and beaches. Our little community cherishes and places high standards on peacefulness throughout. Please have fun but use common courtesy with your family and friends during your stay. Biking is an excellent option at certain times of the year. ● Mountains = animals and insects! Includes, but not limited to, ANIMALS: deer, fox, bears, cougars, skunks, variety of birds, chipmunks, bats, mice. INSECTS: spiders, mosquitos, flies, ants, beetles, bees, moths. We are in their habitat and do what we can to minimize pesty visitors (insecticides, traps, locking trash bin), yet pests can be, well, pesty! Be prepared to expect such things and pack appropriate repellents. If you are bothered by such things, note in advance that no refunds will be given; it's simply impossible to remove them completely. If you are squeamish, fearful, or have certain phobias, the mountains may not be right for you. ●We have an Alexa for your use within the cabin and an exterior recording security camera. ●We offer many outdoor items on site for you to use: beach toys, canoe, 2 older adult bikes, 4 pairs of snow shoes with poles, sleds (number varies) 2 Stand Up Paddle Boards (25/day/ea), ●To get your stay off to a good start, we provide starters (at minimum) on soap and paper products. **Well trained dogs are negotiable and must be approved. There is a $25 per night pet fee for the first dog and an additional $15 for the 2nd. PET RULES: Dogs are to be well trained, fully housebroken, crated OR tied down when LEFT ALONE in the cabin, and owners are fully responsible for cleaning up after their dog, including the outside! Due to mild family allergies AND to keep odors at bay for all guests, no dogs on furniture (laps and on doggie blankets are fine) or beds... absolutely no animals on the beds, please! Please be very conscientious! ●There is a security deposit that will be used if there is damaged or stolen property or excessive mess to clean up inside or outside. ●This is a NON-SMOKING cabin! Those who smoke need to do so outdoors AWAY from doors and windows and are expected to be responsible with the disposal of their cigarette butts. PLEASE do not leave butts on the ground. ■■NOTE■■ There will be additional fees for cleaning/deodorizing if the cabin smells of cigarette smoke and like products. If smoking odors are detected indoors, there will be a minimum fee of $500 for the time & use of an ozone machine plus the possible fees for delays with guests following you. ●Additional guests beyond 8 are negotiable for an additional fee (not including babes in a crib) and must be approved beforehand. This is because we comfortably sleep 8, two to the king beds and 1 to the others. More than 8 begins to really tax our place and all we offer. If more than 8 arrive and are not included in your reservation, you risk cancelation of your reservation and the application of a fine. Airbnb is adamant about accuracy, and we work with them on this! So please, just work it out with us in advance to protect your deposit and reservation. We want you to have fun, not worry about such things. Reminder-there is only one shower and one separate tub! ■There are 3 levels with 2 flights of stairs.
