Description

Once a traditional stone milking parlour, this charming loft-style retreat has been transformed by artist Richard Hearns and his wife, Boo. Thoughtfully designed, it blends rustic character with contemporary elegance. The space offers a private and serene escape surrounded by meadows and gardens. A perfect haven for getaways with friends and family. The space Welcome to our charming loft-style cottage, originally a stone milking parlour, now transformed into a cozy, modern getaway. Richard and Boo lovingly restored this special space while building their forever home, and it’s the perfect mix of rustic charm, comfort, and nature. The open living area feels light and airy with high ceilings, large windows, and a cozy wood-burning stove. The kitchen is fully equipped, so whether you’re cooking a meal or enjoying a casual breakfast, it’s all set for you. The living area is the perfect place to relax with a plush sofa, and the whole space brings the beauty of the outdoors right inside. The cottage has two bedroom areas—one is a peaceful open lofted bedroom with a single bed and soft linens, offering a cozy, intimate space. The second bedroom is on the main floor with a comfortable double bed set behind a Japanese screen. The bathroom has a roomy shower, and the best part? Just a short stroll from the house, you'll find your very own private sauna—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Step outside to enjoy the vegetable gardens that Richard and Boo have carefully tended too. You’re welcome to pick some fresh produce and soak in the peaceful surroundings. The private patio is a great spot for your morning coffee or evening stargazing, and with nearby nature trails, there’s plenty to explore. Located in a quiet area but close to local attractions, this loft-style cottage is the perfect place to relax, recharge, and enjoy the beauty of nature. Book your stay today and experience the charm of this lovely home with a rich history and cozy, modern touches. Guest access Guests have access to the property from the side entrance with private parking and gardens to the back of the house. You have full access to the milking parlour cottage and sauna but we would appreciate if you did not venture to the front where the studio and main house are located. Other things to note The property is located in the Burren National Park which would be considered a rural/remote area so a CAR IS ESSENTIAL to getting around the area comfortably. Our dog Noodles lives in the main house with us so you might see him in the garden. Dublin airport is about a 2.5 hour drive from the house and Shannon airport is 1 hour from the house. We are a 45minute drive from the iconic Cliffs of Moher and village of Doolin, famed for its traditional music scene. Galway city is a 45min drive and our closest towns with grocery stores are Kinvarra and Ballyvaughan which are a 12-15 min drive from the house. The towns of Ballyvaughan and Kinvarra offer a rich arts and music scene as well as hosting some of the best farmers markets in the locality. If you are a foodie this is an amazing base to explore all that County Clare has to offer. Within 15 minutes from the cottage we have the hazel mountain chocolate factory, Flaggy shore oysters, Burren gold cheese factory, Linnalla Ice cream parlour and factory and the Burren perfumery and cafe to name a few. While the area might be rural, the Burren is a place teeming with creativity, from artisan food to stunning local crafts, offering you a blend of nature, culture, and taste all within reach.
