Our spacious king room was designed to evoke the spirit of North Idaho: modern but rustic, rugged but comfortable. The space When we set out to rebuild the Outdoors Inn, a tiny roadside motel just 1 mile north of Sandpoint, our goal was to create a truly North Idaho experience: modern but rustic, rugged but comfortable. That's why you'll find blue pine lumber (which was sourced directly from our site) and handmade details in every room. It’s also why you’ll find 100% cotton linens, blazing-fast internet, and locally-brewed artisan coffee. We're far from fancy -- we're a roadside motel, after all -- but we guarantee a stylishly good night's sleep with easy access to all the adventure that North Idaho has to offer. And with just 12 rooms, you can avoid the big-hotel chaos while enjoying a unique, homey experience – without sacrificing hotel conveniences. For example, we will never, ever ask you to strip the bed or take out the garbage. Need something? Just ask. Our friendly hosts are there to help, night and day. Guest access We always love to greet our guests personally, but for your convenience and flexibility, we provide all guests with self-check-in information via text message on the day of arrival. You can arrive whenever, bypass the front office, and go straight to your room. In terms of getting to us, here’s what you need to know: We’re just one mile north of Sandpoint, and 3 miles from the base of Schweitzer Mountain Resort. Spokane International Airport is 75 miles/90 minutes to the west. Coeur d’Alene – a more expensive, much busier, much more touristy locale – is 55 minutes south of us. Canada – o’ Canada – is 60 miles to the north. We’re a favorite stopover for those en route to Glacier National Park: wake up refreshed, and then make the 3.5 hour drive east to Montana. Other things to note Did we say we are a roadside motel? We are. While we made every effort to update this 1960s era motel, it has old bones… and a roadside location. That means you will hear highway and train noise (train noise is unavoidable in Sandpoint, due to train traffic). It also means that while our rooms are really unique and stylish, our amenities are extremely limited: no pool, no spa, and – thanks to county regulations – no breakfast.
