Pale pink roses with an exquisite scent have climbed up both stories of Stumpfields and now wrap both windows of Ramblin' Rose. In May, one can throw open the windows and drink in their aroma and beauty. Arguably the best view in the house, Ramblin Rose looks out onto an incredible sweep of valley, tea and forest. In all weathers, it is mesmerizing. Tucked into the eves, with sloped wooden ceilings and a child's sleeping loft, this is an inviting, quaint bedroom. This room SHARES a half bathroom downstairs on the ground floor AND a full bathroom outside and up the stone steps. You will need to climb a spiral staircase to reach your rooms. The house has two main levels and a half level. The house has 30 windows in total, letting in the view and the light. Doors in multiple locations lead out onto patios and gardens on this 1.5 acre plot. There are 4 other bedrooms in this main house, where guests may occupy. Shared spaces are on the ground level and include the dining and living room. Just 7 kilometers outside of Ooty town, this property is close to all the major tourist highlights but is secluded and remote at the same time. Away from the hustle and bustle of Ooty town, Honeysuckle Suite is a serene and peaceful retreat, overlooking tea estates, wild forest and mountain ridges. Two other cottages, Ivy and Bilberry, just 50 feet from the main house, share the 1.5 acre property. We have staff here in the day to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Once security man spends the night on the property. Security cameras are used in multiple locations for your safety and our peace of mind. In the evenings, if you wish to socialize, please gather in the living room of the main house and enjoy a warm fire in the hearth. We provide a breakfast buffet at 9am included in the price. The meal is served in the dining room downstairs. We do not provide lunch or dinner. You may order food to be delivered to your cottage from Swiggy and Zomato. Feel free to reheat your food in the microwave in the kitchen or make yourself a cup of tea and coffee anytime. Please do not ask our staff to cook for you. Please do not plan to cook anything from scratch in our kitchen. If you wish to have a private kitchen, please cancel this booking. We do have 2 other cottages, Bilberry and Ivy, which have well equipped kitchens where you can cook your own meals. The nearest good restaurant is Highland Hotel 1.5 km away. We do not provide room service. Guest access The living room, dining room and ground floor hall bathroom are accessible to all the guests and are always shared spaces. We have two other cottages next to the main house, and guests will be joining for the breakfast. Tables for two and 4 people are set up in the living room and the dining room. Guests are invited to enjoy the warmth of a cheerful fire and connection with others in the evenings if they wish. The kitchen is primarily for the staff. Guests are welcome to use the microwave and the hot kettle in the kitchen to heat food and make cups of tea or coffee. Guests do not have access to the fridge and gas stove or other kitchen supplies. Guests are welcome to walk through the gardens and explore the property. The lawns and gardens are shared spaces. Feel free to play games or exercise out on the lawns. Hiking trails through forest and tea estates crisscross the land around Bilberry Cottage. A short walk through the forest brings you to a lovely playground for children at a government tea estate called the Tea Park. This is a new government tourist spot, and as yet is not too crowded or well known. A great place for the view, park benches and a 1 kilometer concrete path loop for hiking. During your stay Our manager is usually available Monday through Saturday, 10 - 5. A night watchman is there on the property for your safety and to help you after the manager goes home at night. Our 3 staff members will arrive at 8 am to begin cooking your breakfast. We do have staff round the clock 7 days a week! We value your feed back so we can continue to improve your experience. Please do leave us a review and private feedback is greatly appreciated. We take your comments seriously, so the more detailed your are the better. We want to know about the maintenance of the place, the service, the food and your levels of comfort. Please reach out during your stay if there is anything we can help you with. Other things to note The property has a 300 meter drive that was recently paved in the steepest parts with concrete pavers. You can drive up to the cottage and unload your things, but please park down by the barn. Please do not hand over cash to our staff for extra services WITHOUT signing your initials on the register for the amount given and the date. Please help us keep strict accounts. Laundry and bonfire is the only chargeable amounts. Do bring warm socks and a sweater and a rain coat and warm house slippers as the evenings get chilly and we have stone floors. We have plenty of extra throws and blankets, and feather duvets. Wild bison and other animals frequent the area around the cottage outside of the boundaries of Stumpfields. If you are lucky you may get to see one or even a whole herd. We have one dog who freely walks around the property. He is friendly! Please note that guest are not allowed to bring their own pets to Stumpfields.
