Sunny en-suite, light breakfast, parking & patio
Description
Lovely bright and airy room with en-suite in picturesque historic Cuckfield, offering driveway parking and a small dedicated patio where you can enjoy your coffee in the morning sunshine. This is the perfect base for Gatwick, Brighton, beautiful National Trust properties, Bluebell Railway, Ouse Valley Viaduct, Ardingly Showgrounds. Also handy for pilot training simulators in Burgess Hill, 10-15 mins drive away, and Princess Royal Hospital 10 mins drive away, also on bus route. The space This brand new guest suite is conveniently located a very pleasant ten minute walk from Cuckfield High Street and its beautiful ancient church. The room is comfortable for a solo traveller, a professional person needing temporary accommodation, or makes a cosy room for a couple overnighting. The 'small double' bed is comfortable for one person, or 'very cosy' for two. The bed is in fact a sofabed, made more comfy by adding a cushioned topper. As it is six feet long, slightly shorter than a usual bed, it may not suit a tall person unless you are alone and able to spread out a little. There is a fold out table suitable as a workspace or for enjoying your breakfast. Some hanging and drawer space available. The shower room is 'small but perfectly formed', the shower cubicle itself being a very adequate size. Open your French doors to a small dedicated patio area where you can enjoy a little outside relaxation or your morning coffee in the sunshine. Tea, coffee and cereal will be supplied together with a kettle and a mini fridge just big enough to store fresh milk. Guest access The suite has its own entrance and the door to the main house will be locked so you are in effect self contained and private. There is also a lock on your side of the door. A key safe is on the outside wall to enable self check-in should I not be at home to welcome you. During your stay I will always be available either at home, or contactable on my mobile, should guests need anything. Always enjoy a chat if guests are feeling sociable. Other things to note The centre of Cuckfield and the lovely ancient church are a very pleasant ten minute walk away and enjoy scenic views to the South Downs. Cuckfield is a beautiful village with a selection of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. Shops include a bakery, gift shop, antique shops, a boutique, art studio, a convenience store, an Indian restaurant and a very popular fish & chip shop. The nearest pub with great food, The Wheatsheaf, is only about three minutes walk away. The recreation ground offers a playground, paddling pool in warmer months, and tennis courts. We are within easy distance of Gatwick Airport and Brighton, both only 10-15 mins by rail from Haywards Heath which is two miles from our home. London Victoria is 40 – 45 minutes. The station is also within walkable distance - 30 minutes, partly through woodland. Places to visit within a half hour drive: National Trust gardens in close proximity: Nymans Gardens, Sheffield Park Gardens, Standen (William Morris), Wakehurst Place (although this is part of Kew Gardens, N.T. members are given free admission but do have to pay for parking). More beautiful gardens: Leonardslee (particularly wonderful at Rhododendron/Azalea time), Borde Hill Gardens, Sussex Prairie Garden, High Beeches The Ouse Valley Railway Viaduct – a stunning Victorian piece of architecture Bluebell Railway for the steam enthusiasts Hickstead All England Showground and Ardingly Showgrounds both within 20 mins drive. Burgess Hill pilot training centres 10 - 15 mins drive. Plenty of scenic walking is on offer with the South Downs Way easily accessible from Ditchling Beacon and the Jack & Jill windmills. The Seven Sisters and Beachy Head are also within an hour’s drive, as is Ashdown Forest. Cuckfield is also half way along the High Weald Landscape Trail so why not spend a night or two en route.
