Description
Relax in this tastefully restored and updated Victorian house from 1881. Unique to homes within the city of Wooster, the home also has beautiful private gardens and woods that offer a natural retreat right within the town. It is a short walk to the College of Wooster, 1 block to the new Wootown Bagels Shop and a 5 minute drive to downtown shops and eateries. The house is a great option for a couple, group or family visiting Wooster for business, college events, or local tourism. The space The spacious 2900 square foot house has ample space for work or relaxation. On the first floor the common areas include a full eat-in kitchen, TV room, large living room, laundry room, small study with views onto the garden, and a large dining room that seats 8. The are 4 bedrooms (sleeps up to 8) and 4 bathrooms (3 ensuite, 1 adjacent to bedroom). 3 are queen beds and one is full. There is one bedroom with an ensuite bathroom on the first floor; the other 3 bedrooms and baths are on the 2nd floor. Bedrooms are laid out in the house to allow for privacy. Bedroom 1: This bedroom overlooks the gardens and has a queen bed and ensuite bathroom with a tub/shower. Bedroom 2: This room has a queen bed with great natural lighting, a love seat and a private bathroom with shower across the hallway. Bedroom 3: This bedroom is on the first floor and has a full bed and ensuite bathroom with a shower. Bedroom 4: This is the largest bedroom, with a bay window overlooking the gardens. It has a queen bed and ensuite bathroom with a shower. Study: The study is located off of the dining room with views onto the garden. Outdoor spaces: The house has a small patio with a grill and dining table. Out the kitchen door are lovely gardens, and there is a small old-growth forest at the back of the property. Eat-in kitchen: The eat-in kitchen has seating for 4 and is well-stocked for cooking or grilling. It also has a restored, hand-painted "pass-through" cabinet to the dining room. Dining room: The large dining room seats 8. Guest access The entire home is available, excluding the basement and one locked room above the kitchen, which is used for storage. Guests may enjoy the gardens informally. For more formal events, such as weddings or large parties, please contact the host to make additional arrangements. Other things to note The house is in a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood in Wooster so there can be traffic noise during work hours and noise from shops and bars on Bowman street. The quietest bedrooms are the rooms in the back of the house. This is a Victorian house with some fixtures and furnishings from the period which may make the house less conducive to elderly guests or toddlers. We have one bedroom and attached full bathroom on the main floor but all other bedrooms are on the 2nd floor accessible only via a staircase, which may not be accessible for some guests. It is a 10 min walk to the College of Wooster and a 4 min drive or 20 minute walk to to downtown coffee/restaurants/shops. Twenty minute drive to Amish country and Vulture’s Knob mountain bike trails.
