Relaxing, scenic, historical Couples retreat & spa
Relax in this ambient space in an ancient barn, used in the past as the farm masters house! You have a private garden with views of the valley, communal 11x6 saltwater pool (seasonal), hot tub (all year round) and games room/tavern. Situated on the chemin st Jacques, there are walking and cycling routes on the door step, and the stunning medieval village of Penne d'agenais, recently voted the most beautiful in France is in walking distance, with its stunning Basillica, artisans and restaurants. The property was formerly a farm, and its ancient barn predates Napoleonic maps, possibly as old as the 16th Century. The Manor house was built in 1850 when the farm became a wealthy prune domaine, and at this time part of the barn was converted to a house for the farm master, which is now Petit Maison. Petit Maison and the rest of the barn, which has been converted into a further two cottages, have been Decorated with period french furniture and paintings to give a hint of the old farm, we've added a bit of shabby chique comfort, a few chandeliers, and all the modern trimmings including a 42" smart TV and Star link internet. The old stables have been converted into a games room/pub, with a pool table, ping pong, 50" TV for all sporting events, and an outdoor kitchen and relaxation area with a hot tub made from a cattle tank, but heated all year round by air source heat pump! A fusion of old and new! All 3 gites have access to the 10 acres of land, Domaine de France is situated on, with patios and terraces, equipped with BBQ, table, chairs with a beautiful view along the Boudysou valley and up over the Basilica of Penne d’agenais. You have full access to the 11x5 saltwater pool (May to October), and the games room, large outdoor kitchen and relaxation area, with hot tub all year round. We also have a play area with swing and slides, an infants play area with sand pit, and 4 hectares of land that guests can wander around and picnic as they please. Our land essentially go's all the way to the foot of the village and has beautiful views of the basillica. We live in the big old Manor house on the same property but completely separate from the gites and are available 24/7, but you have your own space. For guests staying more than a night or two who want to see the area, we host welcoming drinks once you've settled in so you can ask any questions, but we are happy to engage at any time to help solve issues or answer questions. We can provide home cooked local specialities but need advance.
