Description
The Werkmanshuisje is an idyllic, atmospheric, restored workers' house next to the striking mill De Zwaluw. Modern and cozily furnished with all comforts. In the water village of Burdaard, on the famous Eleven Cities route and in the World Heritage Wadden area. Enjoy peace, space and nature in the large garden with a covered private terrace. The cottage is perfect for 2 people who want to relax and explore Friesland. National Parks and cities such as Leeuwarden and Dokkum nearby. The space The Workman's Cottage is a hidden gem in our backyard. In the past, the workers of the adjacent iconic mill lived here, nowadays guests looking for adventure in Friesland are staying here. On the lower floor of the cottage is the sitting area with comfortable designer sofa, the spacious dining table overlooking the green garden with old fruit trees. The kitchen and bathroom are also on the ground floor. The kitchen has a refrigerator, a microwave, an air fryer, induction hob, Nespresso coffee machine (small cups) and a kettle. Cooking tools, dishes, cutlery and kitchen linens are provided. The bathroom is located (surprise!) behind the old bedstee doors and comes with a shower and sitting bath. Towels are provided. The terrace has a canopy and offers plenty of privacy. From the terrace you have a view of the green garden with old fruit trees and on the adjacent iconic corn and wood sawmill. You can relax on the spacious lounge sofa and you can eat comfortably at the picnic table. On the upper floor, there is a double box spring with top mattress (no seam in the middle). The bed is made upon arrival. Burdaard is an idyllic water village and is located on the Elfstedenroute. Especially in the spring and autumn and in the summer it is pleasantly busy on the Dockumer Ee. The village features a cozy village shop with daily delicious fresh bread and local delicacies such as dairy, vegetables and meat. This is within walking distance (along the water) from the cottage. The cottage (deliberately) does not have a TV. However, it has excellent WiFi (for free). Don't want to miss programs and/or movies? Then bring your own laptop/Ipad and easily log into your Netflix/Videoland/NPO etc account. Parking is available on private property (free of charge). Own bicycles can be parked on the private terrace (possibly under the canopy). At a local bike shop, (also electric) bicycles can be rented. This cottage is located in the middle of the World Heritage Wadden area, near the Wadden Sea. Take an adventure through rugged nature, embrace the endless vistas and experience the tranquility. Perfect place for long walks or bike trips through pristine nature reserves, such as the Alde Feanen and the Lauwersmeer area. In the village you rent a sloop or supboard and discover the Frisian landscape from the water. Visit the islands of Ameland or Schiermonnikoog, the historic city of Dokkum or the bustling Leeuwarden. Discover the beautiful surroundings by bike. Cultural or culinary excursions, a sporting challenge or just lounging in and at the cottage, anything is possible here. Be surprised by the local hospitality, the culinary delights and the unique charm of Friesland. Guest access The Werkmanshuisje has a private entrance and a private terrace with canopy. The spacious garden with old fruit tree terraces may also be used by the guests. On the premises there is a (free) parking space for guests. Other things to note The municipality charges a tourist tax of €2 per person per night. This must be settled before or upon arrival by cash or transfer (separate request via Airbnb). Late check-out on Sunday possible until 5pm for €35.00 (at booking or possibly also on the spot, decide and payable or via Airbnb overbooking).
