Description

Hannah’s Hideaway is a cozy one-story, three-bedroom cabin with two queen beds and one king. There’s a small sofa and chair for relaxing, and a full kitchen with microwave and all the basics. One bathroom has hot water, electricity, and internet. Dogs are welcome. A charcoal grill is ready for experienced users, and a firepit can be enjoyed when burn bans allow. The cabin sits on our 320-acre homestead in rural Kenny Lake, surrounded by forest, open skies, and quiet, a true Alaskan escape. The space Hannah's Hideaway sits on our 320-acre homestead, a property first built in the 1970s by four generations using timber milled right here on the land. The homestead sat empty for more than 10 years before our family began restoring it, so some areas look worn, rustic, or unfinished. This is an active project, not a polished resort. We bought it to save it, and when you stay here, you get to be part of that process. The property is in a truly remote part of Alaska, surrounded by forests, fields, and wide-open skies. You’re a short drive from Wrangell–St. Elias National Park, where hiking, fishing, and glacier adventures await. Scenic drives along the Richardson Highway pass historic sites, rivers, and mountains. The nearest towns are a drive away: 30 minutes to Chitina, 60 minutes to Glennallen, 105 minutes to Valdez, and 150 minutes to Kennicott. Just up the road is a small diner and a grocery store, and the rest is pure nature. Far enough to feel truly off the beaten path, close enough for essentials. This is an active working property, so you might hear the occasional sounds of farm or land work. We provide basic cooking essentials, but if you plan to prepare larger meals, bringing your own favorite tools is a good idea. If you are seeking a genuine Alaskan stay, remote, unplugged, and rich with history, this is the place for you. You will leave with not just memories, but stories. Guest access Guests at Hannah's Hideaway have full access to the cabin they booked. Other cabins or areas on the homestead may look worn, empty, or under repair, and that is part of the property’s history and ongoing care. You can enjoy your cabin without concern, even if other areas are being restored or are less finished. You are welcome to explore the grounds and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, but some areas are private or in use, so please stay out of locked rooms and other buildings unless invited. Self-check in makes arrival easy, and we are always nearby if you need anything. We appreciate guests who value independence, quiet, and respect for the space, helping keep the homestead calm and welcoming for everyone. Other things to note Please check out the guest guide, as it includes all the necessary information about the area, what to do, and details to help make your stay enjoyable. This is an active homestead with farm work and heavy equipment operating from early morning into the evening. We appreciate your understanding that this activity is not subject to quiet hours. Harvest and daily operations follow the rhythm of the land, not personal schedules. There are over 40 chickens and 4 turkeys, including two large toms who roam freely. The toms aren't aggressive; they just like to show off because they know they’re handsome. Please don’t chase, hold, pet, or physically interact with any of the animals. While we ask that you keep a respectful distance, the chickens may not follow that rule and could walk right up to you. Feel free to take photos and videos from a safe distance. This helps keep both the animals and you safe. Important: Chicks may be moving around near their mothers. For your safety, and to avoid a fine or an unpleasant encounter, please do not approach or touch them.
