Villa Pitkävirta welcomes you to enjoy its natural, authentic and idyllic lake side summer house surroundings. As long as you know how to be respectful towards our neighbours and fellow summer hoouse guests we will warmly welcome you to our cottage. In Villa Pitkävirta you can heat up a traditional wood-heated sauna and a hot tube for 8 that has the most picturesque location by the lake, jump into a fresh water lake or gather around a bbq with friends. The space Holiday is the time when you want to relax, enjoy your time with family or friends and get away from the everyday life. Our goal is to help you to achieve just that. Relaxed and cozy Villa Pitkävirta is located on a peaceful and charming Lake Salmijärvi in Salo just a mere one hour drive from Helsinki and Turku. Many of our big city visitors have described this as the first place where they have really understood how silence truly feels. That feeling is achieved by the vast, natural forests surrounding the cottage and the fresh water lake that one can enjoy in private without getting disturb by near by next door neighbors. During the summer time you can swim, fish, use two rowboats, pick berries or even hike around Lake Salmijärvi if you are ready for a full day’s nature experience. While our sauna is ready to be warmed up once a day like many Finns do. During the winter time you can also enjoy ice fishing as well as winter bathing in an ice hole, which is our way of staying healthy during the winter months. The top experience at the cottage is no doubt the sauna & hot tub located 50m from the main building. The sauna has a terrace surrounding it on two sides as well as a room with fireplace that offers a breathtaking view over the lake. The sauna has also direct access to large bathroom with warm shower and water heater for winter quests. In between the soft steams of our wood-heated sauna you can cool down by springing into the fresh waters of Lake Salmijärvi. In front of the sauna is a terrace and connected to the terrace lies a hot tub suitable for up to eight people at a time. If you are travelling with kids, you can find a shallow small nature ground beach behind the sauna that is easily accessed by all ages. This is also where the two boats are waiting for you in case you feel like a boat tour on the lake or fishing (please note that fishing requires a permission that can be acquired from the local gas station. Our non-smoking cottage and sauna building accommodate 6+2 (two sofa beads in the main building + a bunk bed and sofa bed in the sauna building. Additional mattresses can be placed on the floor if needed. The main building has three rooms: a cozy living room with slow heat release fireplace connected to a well-functioning kitchen that has a faucet for warm water during the summer months. The living room is connected to a spacious, bright and heated veranda that is an ideal location for those stress releasing board game nights as well as gatherings around a fondue pot that you might be looking for. The third room is a small bed room with a bunk bed. Villa PItkävirta is surrounded by a large and natural yard that has a playhouse, traditional swing, gas and coal bbq as well as dining table and chairs for eight people. The cottage is located approximately 4km from the Suomusjärvi village where you can find the closest grocery store, a pizzeria and gas stations. During the summer months visitors are encouraged to go and pick up fresh water from the natural spring that is located only 500m from the cottage and offers a unique taste of pureness in its own right. The true cottage experience is guaranteed by the outhouse toilet located in the appendage. If you are not familiar with outhouse toilet, it is that much more authentic experience and we will happily tell you how it works. Just so we dont forget it, as said before, holiday is the time to bring a gear down and relax. Therefor we will make sure that there is always enough firewood for fireplaces and sauna, gas for the grill, toilet paper and drinking water for everyone, so that you can focus on doing what you are supposed to, relax!
