Villa Scifazzo is an ancient fortified farmhouse, typical of the Hyblaean architectural landscape, built by the Cartia barons in the 1700s. The original layout of the villa predates the violent earthquake that shook the entire southeast of the island in 1693. Of the original nucleus, only the cellar and the internal chapel remain, a peculiar element that characterized the noble residences throughout the area. The eighteenth-century structure remained almost unchanged until the early 1800s, when the outer wall and the sighting terrace overlooking the main door were built. The appearance of the façade, on the other hand, took on the form it still maintains today in 1930. The entire building was renovated in 2005.
