Riverside Cottage

Our fully equipped seasonal cottage is on the Salmon river 15 minutes north of Malone and close to the Canadian border. We can provide info on visiting Montreal as well as the Wilder Homestead, fishing and hiking trails. We have an appetizer or home made soup waiting for guests on their arrival. We have bees and are pleased to show how we are nurturing our hive. Our gardens are beautiful and guests are welcome on both properties. As Super Hosts we do our best to make your stay memorable🌻 The space Listen to the river and watch the birds. Lovely gardens surround the property and untold activities are available on the river and around town. You can watch the river from inside the seasonal screened in patio tent. The gardens are in bloom from May through to September and guests enjoy the space on both properties. The Almanzo Wilder Homestead is 20 minutes away. John and I can help plan your holiday and will fill you in on the various activities taking place in 2025. We also are knowledgeable on Montreal and can assist with places to visit in the province of Quebec, Canada. Luckily the border is now open with no Covid test requirements! Guest access The cottage has two bedrooms The master has a double bed and the 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds. A fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, convection oven, coffee machine. The drinking water is excellent and is provided from the main cottage on the property There is an outside eating area with table and chairs, a fire pit for outside fires and an enclosed gazebo. There is also a barbeque for outdoor cooking. There are utensils in the cottage including a s’mores cooking kit. Last year we have added a second fire pit on an island in the river for your enjoyment. We have a little crossing built to facilitate your access. Dogs and cats are welcome. However, we are charging $30/stay in order to help ensure the cottage is clean for subsequent guests. This amount will be collected during your stay in accordance with Air B&B policy. The living room has a wood stove for colder nights and wood is supplied for your stay. We have added a 33 inch smart Samsung TV for your streaming convenience. Please note that the couch in the picture has been replaced with a new couch. Bathroom Note: We have a septic system and in order to keep things running smoothly, we have added a bidet to the bathroom seat which helps in limiting paper in the toilet. We ask that you be kind to our septic system. Other things to note There is a wood stove in the living room and a welcome quantity of firewood is provided for guests in the spring and fall. Additional wood is available for sale. In regards to ashes: a milk can is provided outside the door. The top of the can provides an ashtray for smokers and the bottom for ashes. Please note there is no smoking in the cottage. There is an outdoor fire pit available for your use and wood is provided for outside burning. PARKING: If you have one vehicle please park on the grass in front of the door. There is a parking sign at the driveway entrance of the rental cottage.
