Description

Stone walled farm cottage in the hills of Snowdonia; A quiet retreat in a unique isolated Welsh Cottage. Located above the village, it's very peaceful with no neighbours and easy access to the mountain, and fantastic views. There are plenty of outdoor activities in the area for all abilities. We have been letting this space since 2021, but have had to change the booking page in 2025. You can see our old rating in the photos. Please read our listing details to get a good idea of what to expect The space Croeso/Welcome to Tŷ’r Mynydd, a renovated farm cottage set on the boundary of Eryri (Snowdonia National Park), we believe that this location offers a truly unique experience. Please be aware that this place is quirky, the photos will give you some idea but there are a few things that we would like to make clear to avoid any disappointment. Firstly the double bed upstairs is on a mezzanine and has a low ceiling, you will likely have to access this space by crouching or kneeling. The property is up a narrow lane which is unpaved with ferns beside the track and the lane and turnaround spots are narrow. If you are so far undeterred then now comes the great stuff! We are on the side of a hill and have a wonderful view to the West so generally we get great sunsets. If you walk 2 minutes up the lane then you're on the mountain and can enjoy the expanse of the Carneddau foothills with great views of the taller mountains and over Anglesea, on a clear day you might see Ireland or the Isle of Mann in the distance. The property has a lot of natural light and is looking out onto the hills over a sheep field, it most definitely offers a quaint rural experience. If you like nature then you're on the doorstep of some wonderful mountains and beaches, a lot of them within half an hours drive. From the doorstep you can enjoy the Carneddau mountains or the Slate Trail, and it's just a short drive to Zip World (10 mins), the Glyderau mountains (15 mins), Snowdon (20 mins), and a range of stunning beaches (around 30 mins, depending on the beach!). What’s included: A double bed is situated in a cozy “crog loft’, accessed via a short set of stairs. You can make yourself very comfortable in this upstairs space, although headroom is at a premium and you cannot stand up completely. There is also a bunk bed tucked away downstairs. The kitchen includes an electric oven and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge. We have solar panels for heating water over the summer months, which can be boosted by an electric input when required. We provide towels and bedding for all guests. There is wifi available and TV with Chromecast. Due to our location, we use filtered spring water, direct from the ground. We rely on spring water from a local source. We have a good amount of on-site water storage, but we ask you to be mindful of your water consumption. Because of our water source, the water pressure is lower than you might find at home. It is still more than enough for a good shower. Being an old stone building it can sometimes feel cooler than you might be used to at home, but we have a heating system and all the beds have electric blankets. And due to the nature of the house it's inevitable that you'll see a few little insects about. No smoking or other open flames (e.g. candles) are permitted inside the house. We are happy to charge guests' electric cars using our standard plug sockets. However we ask that you talk to us about this in advance as we will need to charge the cost of electricity in this instance. Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are allowed for each booking, just let add them to your booking and be aware that we are surrounded by working farmland, which often has sheep and other livestock grazing. This is especially important around lambing season (spring to early summer). There is a £10 additional cleaning charge per booking for all dogs. The space is designed for up to 4 people, but we would consider requests for 5 guests in the situation that some of the guest are children, like for a family for example. We will leave the keys for you so you can arrive at your own leisure, but we will try to introduce ourselves as soon as is convenient! Guest access There is space for one vehicle to park by the house, but long-wheelbase vans or extra vehicles can park in the village, 5-10 min walk away. When searching for our house on Sat-Nav/GPS make sure you go via the Outreach Centre.
