Perfectly located just a short walk from local shops, pubs, and amenities, the cottage is nestled in the peaceful village of Aldbrough, surrounded by open countryside and just a mile from the sea. Rich in history, the village is home to St. Bartholomew’s Church, a Norman gem with traces of Saxon architecture, and the tomb of Sir John de Melsa—a legendary 13th-century warrior and former Governor of York. The area offers scenic walks, sea breezes, and a warm community feel. During the spring-to-autumn season, nearby caravan parks add a touch of vibrancy with social events at their clubs. Inside, the cottage is charming and well-equipped—an ideal base for couples, families, or friends. It sleeps up to four (2 / 3 adults and a child) , and a travel cot and highchair are available for younger guests. Pet friendly (Please contact us first if you would like more than one dog to stay with you). The cottage is strictly non-smoking. Living Spaces Downstairs, the cosy living room features a rustic brick fireplace with electric heating, exposed beams, and comfortable seating—perfect for relaxing with the HD Freeview TV, DVD player, or radio/CD system. The breakfast kitchen retains its cottage charm with open beams and pine units and is fully equipped with a microwave, electric cooker, fridge, freezer, and all the crockery, cutlery, and glassware you'll need. A utility porch off the kitchen offers laundry facilities and a charming stable-style door opening onto the garden. The bathroom, also located on the ground floor, includes an electric shower, toilet, basin, and heater. Upstairs, you’ll find two comfortable bedrooms: Bedroom 1: King-size bed Bedroom 2: A versatile guest room with a single bed that converts into two singles or one double, with views over the garden and fields beyond. (Note space around the bed when converted to a double) Garden & Outdoor Space To the rear, enjoy a safe and enclosed garden, ideal for children and pets. The space features a covered fish pond, patio seating, a barbecue, and even bicycles for guest use, stored in the shed. Additional Information Parking: No private parking, but ample on-street parking is available. Included: Bedding, towels, and linens. Pet Policy: One well-behaved pet welcome (Please contact us if you would like to request more pets to stay). Accessibility: Due to its age and layout, the cottage is not wheelchair accessible. The original staircase is very steep but fitted with handrails for safety. Stays: Weekly stays are preferred, but feel free to enquire about short breaks or alternative check-in days—we’re happy to be flexible where possible.
