At 657 meters, you will find the highest point in the Westerwald. The Fuchskaute is not a normal mountain, but whoever enjoys the view there stands on an extinct volcano and a 40-hectare area. The extinct volcano is part of a basalt plateau and has two peaks instead of just a single summit and extends over a fairly wide area. The two peaks, each over 650 meters high, are divided into the north peak and the south peak. The northern peak, which is also called Alteberg, is the slightly lower peak. The southern peak in turn consists of two hills 175 meters away, which are also divided into northern and southern hills. The northern elevation of the southern peak is centrally located and also the highest point at exactly 657.3 meters.
