Description

Batian’s View cottage is nestled on the banks of the Naro Moru River and the lower slopes of Mount Kenya. Surrounded by 10 acres of pristine forest, home to colobus monkey, bush buck and an abundance of bird life. The wilderness setting is perfect for hikers, adventurers, groups or families interested in exploring Kenya’s natural beauty. The cottage sits adjacent to a leadership training facility offering climbing walls, high rope challenges and a zipline, which can be booked upon request. The space The fully furnished cottage can sleep up to 6 people. The cottage has 3 bedrooms, a cozy living room with real fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a bathtub and shower, as well as an outside seating area. The cottage is rustic, cosy and comfortable, whilst located in stunning surroundings of gardens, forest and walking distance from Mount Kenya national park. There is access to the neighboring outdoor adventure activities including zipline and climbing wall which can be booked upon request. Guest access Guests will have the entire cottage to themselves. The cottage sits within a large garden and is surrounded by many walking trails including up the lower slopes of Mount Kenya. Other things to note Let Batian’s View be your base for climbing Mt. Kenya or exploring other locations on the Laikipia Plateau. Peter Kafuna, the Co-Manager at Batian’s View, has lived in the area for over 20 years and has climbed Mt. Kenya more times than can be remembered. As a former instructor with the National Outdoor Leadership School, East Africa Branch, Mr. Kafuna has traveled extensively around Mt. Kenya and throughout Kenya as well. He will put his experience and expertise to use in creating an adventure that will far exceed expectations. Batian’s View has a complete supply of the gear and clothing one needs for a safe and comfortable hike on Mt. Kenya. If one is in need of a guide and possibly porters, Batian’s View will arrange that too. And from our location at 7,000’ on the western slopes of Mt. Kenya, it is quite possible for one to leave Batian’s View on foot in the morning and be at 10,000’ in Mt. Kenya National Park in the afternoon. Not only is this an exhilarating hike, but you will also save money in vehicle fees. For use of the zipline, climbing wall and high ropes courses, you can pay Peter Kafuna direct, the fee is 1500 KES per person ($12). There is a dog living on site at the neighboring facility so if you plan to bring pets, please let Peter know.
