The space The Old Toll House is a beautifully restored 17th-century cottage in the heart of historic Debenham, offering a characterful and comfortable stay for up to four guests. Carefully restored to retain the features that make this old building so distinctive, the cottage has exposed low beams, low doorways, quirky angled walls and a steep traditional staircase leading to the first floor. The cottage has two comfortable bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and one with a double bed, both located upstairs. The first-floor bathroom has a shower. Downstairs, there is a cosy lounge with a log burner, a dining space and a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need for a short stay. Tea, coffee and milk are provided for your arrival. The cottage is right in the centre of Debenham, with shops, pubs and places to eat all within easy walking distance. Free on-street parking is available nearby. As a traditional High Street property, The Old Toll House does not have a private garden or outdoor space. Bruford’s Coffee Shop is immediately next door and serves breakfast, lunch, cakes and speciality coffee. Guests staying at The Old Toll House receive 10% off at Bruford’s during their stay. Also close by are The Lion and The Woolpack pubs, a traditional butcher, supermarket, greengrocer and a selection of independent village shops. A few things to know before you book The Old Toll House is a historic building and some of its original character comes with quirks. There are low beams and doorways, and the staircase to the first floor is steep, so the cottage may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. Due to limited storage space, we are unable to provide a cot or high chair. One well-behaved dog is very welcome. Please be aware that the cottage does not have a private garden. We ask that dogs are kept out of the bedrooms and that the throws provided in the lounge are used if your dog joins you on the furniture. To protect this historic property, smoking, vaping and the use of candles are not permitted anywhere inside the cottage. Guest access Guests have exclusive use of the entire cottage throughout their stay. The Old Toll House is arranged over two floors, with both bedrooms and the bathroom upstairs. As you would expect from a 17th-century cottage, it has a characterful and individual layout. Our photographs show the cottage, its layout and original features in detail. There is no private garden or outdoor space, although countryside walks and public footpaths are easily accessible from the village. Other things to note To help you settle in, we provide a selection of tea, coffee and fresh milk, so you can relax with a hot drink as soon as you arrive. During the cooler months, we also provide a complimentary supply of kiln dried logs, kindling and firelighters for the log burner, creating the perfect setting for a cosy evening in. Should you need additional logs during your stay, kiln dried logs are available from Abbots Hardware Store or the COOP, or you're welcome to bring your own. As our guests, you'll also receive **10% off food and drinks at Bruford's Coffee Shop** throughout your stay, making it the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, coffee or homemade cake while exploring the village.
