Explore on foot or bike with routes on your doorstep, and easy access to Suffolk’s coast, countryside and heritage towns. The space A beautifully restored 17th-century cottage in the heart of historic Debenham – one of Suffolk’s premier villages, set near the source of the River Deben. Everything in this charming village is within walking distance, with free on-street parking. Right next door, you'll find Bruford’s Coffee Shop – perfect for breakfast or lunch – along with The Lion Pub, a traditional butcher, supermarket, greengrocer, and just a short stroll to The Woolpack Pub. The high street is also home to a variety of independent shops to explore. The Old Toll House has been lovingly restored to a high standard, retaining its historical charm with low beams, diagonal walls, and a characterful steep staircase leading to the first floor. The cottage offers two bedrooms – one with a king-size bed, the other with a double. We do not have a cot or high chair for infants as we have very limited storage space. The bathroom is located upstairs. One well-behaved dog is welcome. We kindly ask that your dog stays out of the bedrooms and that you use the provided throws in the basket in the lounge if they are on the furniture. Please note: smoking, vaping, and candle use are not permitted anywhere in the cottage, due to its age. Guest access Inside, The Old Toll House offers a cosy and characterful space, perfect for a relaxing stay. There are two thoughtfully furnished bedrooms: the larger features a comfortable king-size bed, while the second bedroom has a double bed, giving guests flexible sleeping options. The cottage is full of charm, with exposed beams, sloping ceilings, and a quirky layout that reflects its 17th-century heritage. Guests have full and exclusive use of the entire property, making it a private and peaceful home away from home. The stairs reflect the age of the property and would be considered steep. Other things to note During the cooler months we provide logs, kindling and firefighters for the log burner for you. We invite you to use it and if you run out of logs Abbots Hardware Store in Debenham sells them or if you bring them with you kiln dried logs.
