I Know A Place, Lake House
I Know A Place, Lake House
Description
I KNOW A PLACE, LAKE HOUSE A man built a two-bedroom tented beach house by Lake Victoria, 8kms from Mbita Town. A private beach. He planted trees, grew grass. It's his home but also home to lots of birds, guinea-fowls, and a cat called Oatmeal. When in bed, he can see distant islands and passing boats. Each night he lights a fire under a large sky. He built it for peace, tranquility, reflection and creating. An escape. He is now sharing it with you, so that you can make it your home too. The space I built this place to escape the deafening noise of the city. I wanted something unique and intimate. I love water, so a place with beach access made sense - somewhere I could watch boats and fishermen, perhaps wave to them during the golden hour at sunset. So I built a home. A sanctuary where I could burrow in to write, create, and recharge. The idea of a luxury tent appealed to me - a space where I could spend the night while still feeling connected to nature's elements. Wood speaks to my soul, so the floors and pillars are all timber. My love for nature led me to plant countless trees. Tree brought hundreds of birds. I built homes for doves and guinea fowls. The property welcomes campers for half the year, for the garden to heal, but only six people at any given time. It's a quiet space, so loud music isn't permitted, though you're welcome to strum your guitar by the fireside under the stars. Then there's the beach - palm trees, pristine sand, and spectacular sunsets. Mornings bring calm waters perfect for swimming, though nighttime requires caution due to hippos, which are notoriously dangerous. This isn't a commercial property - this is my home. It's not perfect like a hotel is, but I decided to share its beauty with kindred spirits who might seek peace and tranquility, whether to create, think, or simply escape. I hope you'll treat it as your own sanctuary. I hope it brings you as much joy as it brings me.
