Bayberry Cottage, nestled in the tiny borough of Marshfield Maine just next to popular Machias. Tucked away on a quiet lane, this darling antique home is the perfect blend of charm and coziness. A great spot to stay and recharge or ideal home base from which to take day trips to many special Downeast destinations! The kitchen has a gas range, dish washer, pots and pans, Breville and Keurig machines for coffee and espresso. Essentials such as bed linens, cozy blankets and towels, tp, soap and hair dryer are provided as well. Enjoy your morning coffee on our back porch rockers. Have a bbq on the back deck after a day at the beach. There is a small fire pit for s’mores and the best star gazing with zero light pollution. Deer and wild turkey often cross through our back meadow. The scenic Downeast sunrise trail is accessible within 5 min. Perfect if you plan on bringing your bikes. ATVs are available to rent at multiple locations nearby. This area is the heart of blueberry country and is surrounded by wild blueberry barrens. Wild blueberries are celebrated with an annual festival and road race in Machias. Lobsters can be purchased in town from the local lobstermen and the cottage is equipped with a lobster pot and utensils. Visit the general store in downtown Machias for local products, and gifts. West Branch Farm has delicious breakfast enjoyed with expansive views of the area. The French Cellar has a fine selection of wine and cheese. Roque Bluffs State Park has both ocean and fresh water swimming, a picnic area and is lined with fragrant beach roses. There are countless ways to enjoy the outdoors here! Our home is ideal for a girls getaway, or a 2-3 adults that are wanting to enjoy the natural beauty and outdoor adventures that are so abundant here in Downeast Maine. Unfortunately , the property is not suitable for children 12yrs and under. Important: No pets are allowed, no exceptions The staircase to the 2nd floor is a bit narrow because the home is antique. There is a queen bed in one bedroom and a petite full sized bed in the 2nd bedroom. Guest access Guest will enter home using back porch entrance (steps) Keyless pad entry Other things to note To be clear, my home is a quiet, pet free, smoke free, drug free space inside and out. All of these qualities are without exception and are very important to me.
