The lawn is mown by a local team who come in every fortnight, but if you feel inspired and want to do some trimming and weeding - please go right ahead :) The garden is 'au naturel' - but it always loves a bit of TLC too - just watch you don't remove the actual wild flowers and unusual plants by accident :) Guest access Super easy!! Embo has a fantastic public car parking area - which is right next to the Highland Sanctuary so you can park mini vans, campers, estate cars etc here without any issues & access the Sanctuary straight from there:) There is private parking available too as needed:) If you are coming by bike, there’s an area next to the house you can leave bikes as needed too:) Access to the house is via lock-box - so super easy - whether you are on wheels or walking & irrespective of your travel plans - we can welcome you at any hour:) Other things to note To discover more about the local area and stay updated on events throughout the year, please follow us on social media, where we share regular updates on what's happening #scottishhighlandsanctuary As our first guests, we appreciate your understanding that while the garden is usable, it has only just been planted and is still maturing, so it may not be in perfect condition. To reflect this, we are offering the Sanctuary at a reduced rate (as reflected in the current pricing) until the garden is complete. We love animals - but ask you to be respectful of our home - and the local garden inhabitants:) The Highland Sanctuary is designed to be a sanctuary for all - whether human or animal:) Hedgehogs 🦔 We are encouraging hedgehogs 🦔 in the garden - so please don’t let your dog bite them or bark at them 🙏 we very rarely see them as they are very private creatures - so if you see one- lucky you!!! If you see a hedgehog house hidden behind a tree or bush (small little wooden box) - please leave it alone - it’s their home & we want them to feel safe & secure here:)) Dogs 🐶 We respectfully ask that dogs do not sleep in the house, unless by arrangement - there is a £60 dog fee if a dog is to come & stay. - No dogs in or on the beds please. - If a dog fowls in the house - we’ll need to ask you to pay fur all extra cleaning & repairs. The house is newly renovated - so there are currently no dog smells etc - we really want to keep it that way:)) - No dogs to sleep in the house if possible - No dogs are to be washed in the house - we have an outside tap that you are very welcome to use:)) - we have an outside area that you can put your dog in to sleep if that would be helpful;) Sea 🌊 The beach is beautiful - and when calm, the sea can be a great place to swim- especially closer to the ramp area - as it’s nice & Sandy under foot. Please be careful of the tides - you swim at your own risk. Do NOT swim at te Loch Fleet end of the beach - there are terrible rip tides there & very few people about to rescue you. The main beach area, close to the village is a lot calmer & people swim there regularly. Ask locals & read up on the swimming areas - there is a safety ring near Grannie's Heilan’ Hame if needed. The area is beautiful, great fun & great for outdoor activities. You undertake these at your own risk - so please take care and have a fun packed holiday - safely 💫💫 Animals We love animals, and have animals ourselves - however we also appreciate that some people have allergies and so we are trying to ensure that the house is kept to minimal animal use. There is a special cleaning fee for animals of £60 per animal, but we also ask that you do NOT allow animals onto the chairs, beds or into the bathrooms. Animals (especially dogs) - are NOT to be washed or cleaned in the bathrooms or sinks please. We have an outside tap, and a hose that you are very welcome to use, where dogs or other animals can be rinsed off, and lots of old towels that you are very welcome to use for drying your furry friends off too :) We have renovated the Highland Sanctuary to be a clean and tranquil spot for all - and so hence wanting to keep the bedrooms and bathrooms hair free so that those with allergens etc can stay with confidence too :) We also have lots of antiques etc in the house, so chewing or defecating in the house is not acceptable. If this happens, we will be requesting for the damaged items to be fixed at the animal owners expense. We really want you to have a WONDERFUL stay :)) Thank you :) Registration details HI-01077-F
