Off-the grid Country Retreat

De-stress, relax and recharge your batteries. Just a 2hr drive from Brisbane. We're off the grid with solar power and rain water tanks. Dog friendly with fully fenced 5 acres for your dog to explore. We have 4 dogs on the property, and they love meeting our guests. There is no separate fence around the cottage. We live in the main house but screening provides privacy. Collect your fresh eggs every morning, and any seasonal herbs, fruit or vegetables. Indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit. The space We are completely off grid and rely on solar power and rain water. All our water tanks have triple filtration, so the water is safe to drink. The guest cottage is a one bedroom/kitchen/living with everything that you need. Gas cooktop and fan forced oven. We have our own septic system, so be aware of what you can and can't flush down the toilet. No tissues, condoms or sanitary products, there is a bin provided for these. The guest cottage has its own solar system and batteries. There is no TV but we have an assortment of boardgames, magazines and books for your use. We have a large herb and vegetable garden that is open to our guests. It's full of seasonal vegetables and fruits, and we also have a selection of fruit trees around the property. Lots of native birds to watch. Guest access Feel free to collect your own eggs for breakfast, we can show you where to get them from, it's at the back of the red chicken coop. At the same time, you can collect your herbs and greens from our vegetable garden. There is a washing machine situated at the back of the guest cottage and washing powder can be obtained from us at the main house. Indoor fireplace and the outdoor fire pit are there for you to use. We give you a bit of firewood to start you off, but please bring your own or bags of firewood can be purchased from us. You are more than welcome to walk around the property but be aware of the uneven ground and watch for holes and rocks. Mowing usually takes place any time between 9am and 3pm. Unfortunately we are not wheelchair friendly as there is 5 or 6 steps to get in to the cottage. There is a gate on the front deck, so you can keep your dog in (if you bring one) Dogs are allowed in the cottage, but preferably not on the bed. If you have a friendly dog that enjoys the company of other dogs, our property is fully fenced. We have electric gates at the front of the property, so when your booking is confirmed, you will receive the code so you can enter and exit any time. Other things to note We are situated close to the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. We are 10 min from the township of Blackbutt, 45 min from Kilcoy and 55 min from Kingaroy and 2hrs from Brisbane airport. This is the place to relax, unwind and recharge your batteries and do as much or as little as you want. It's the perfect place to read a book on the front deck with a glass of wine or a cup of tea. No wi-fi but mobile reception is usually good. We can make any occasion special, birthdays, anniversaries, a weekend away with your partner, or a relaxing weekend for yourself. Message me before you book if you would like something special, as some items are at additional cost. If you have had a busy week at work, this is the perfect spot to just chill. This is not a party house and we do respect our neighbours, so no loud noise after 10pm or before 7am. This includes the fire pit area. Young children are welcome but must be under adult supervision at all times. The cottage has a double sofa bed that would sleep 1 or 2 young children.
