Situated in its own plot of woodland, 20 mins from both Murchison & Lake Rotoroa (via Braeburn Track), in the beautiful Tutaki Valley overlooked by Mt. Murchison. Lovingly built by Grandpa Hope in the fashion of a Hebridean Byre using stone dug from the surrounding land this is a truly individual, off-grid, cosy hut. The space Totally private and surrounded by wonderful old trees, quirky paths and nooks with seats and places to relax and gaze at the hills or night sky. On the edge of Nelson Lakes National Park, there are various walks in the valley as well as locally. An ideal stop off for cycle tourers, campers needing a break from their tents or anyone looking for something just a bit special & memorable. Internally the hut is wonderfully calming with its rustic construction, high, beamed ceiling, hardwood floor, queen size bed, practical, comfortable furnishings, books, games and wood-burning stove. Power is solar and limited to a double USB charging point, LED light and rechargeable lamp plus Bose speaker. (Note: there are no sockets) The well equipped covered outside kitchen has a gas fridge as well as a 2 ring camp-stove a with grill and a compact BBQ. An outside gas shower, and compost dunny (toilet) and even an outside dining shelter! and a wee brazier to sit around and count (your lucky) stars! The whole place has a magical feeling of peaceful isolation. Guest access The accommodation is set in an acre of private wooded grounds, with off street parking.
