Maison Chalendeix welcomes you for a quiet, soothing, simple and authentic stay. It is a magical place, in the heart of a reserved environment, without noise, visual or light pollution. You can relax there, marveling at the passage of wild deer, mischievous foxes, majestic buzzards and laughing owls. It is 5 km from Eymoutiers, a charming medieval village with all shops and services. The space Maison Chalendeix is in the heart of Limousin, in the Regional Natural Park, at the crossroads of Haute-Vienne, Creuse and Corrèze, on the first steps of the Millevaches plateau, known for its beautiful hiking trails. It is 10 minutes from the sublime Lake Vassivière, 5 minutes from Eymoutiers, a lovely little medieval city crossed by the Compostela path where you will find all the services, 10 minutes from Beaumont du Lac and 20 minutes from Peyrat le Château. Our region is tender, gentle, on a human scale, modest despite its innumerable riches and its great history. We will be delighted to share our experiences, our knowledge of historical and cultural heritage and local life alternatives, our enthusiasm for living in this beautiful country and to share our little secrets with you! We live there and will be able to answer any of your questions. Maison Chalendeix is an old 19th century farmhouse renovated with passion and care by Marc, a lover of beautiful stones and former building craftsman, helped by local artisans. He was keen to create a dialogue between the inside and the outside. Each large room, through large openings, thus has a painting: you will be in the landscape! Gaëlle, a former archaeologist, has created comfortable spaces, with sober and delicate decoration, punctuated by antique pieces, often reminiscent of the Orient, her favorite research area. Tired of city life, we took up residence in Chalendeix, a place with a strong soul (which means "provision of bread" in Occitan) at the time of the birth of our first child. Desire for wide open spaces and a simple, authentic life, as close as possible to the forests and rivers and the animals that inhabit them. We fell in love with this set of buildings, an old 19th century farm. So, we had to reconvert. Marc, a former building craftsman and painter-decorator, abandoned apartment renovations to devote himself to the reconstruction of the house, favoring local materials (granite, wood) and ecological amenities (wood wool insulation, phyto purification, etc.). Gaëlle said goodbye to her prehistoric lands to immerse herself in the history of Limousin, learn how to make bread, and care for cats, dogs, horses, and chickens... The construction site was a great adventure that lasted 6 years. It took imagination to transform a barn into a large, comfortable and warm guest house! 6 years, time for us to also be part of the old stones and to be able to share our life experience here with authenticity. For more than 10 years now, we have been welcoming families, couples, friends, solo travelers, artists... always with joy and curiosity! Maison Chalendeix welcomes you to its large capacity cottage (12 people, 180 m2) classified 4 stars for a friendly and rejuvenating stay, with family, in a group or with friends. The house opens to the west on a velvety terrace overlooking forests and meadows, where it's nice to rest in the sun while reading a good book or sipping an aperitif to the sound of the small stream that runs below. Light floods the interior spaces, which are largely open to the valley. It caresses the noble materials (chestnut wood), the carefully antique furniture, the local handicrafts and the oriental carpets that make up the refined, soothing and delicate decoration of the house. Overlooking the terrace is a large living room with several comfortable sofas for warm evenings by the fire, a large dining room kitchen with its large convivial table and a large bedroom for 2 people with its shower room. The room is accessible to people with reduced mobility. On the first floor are two spacious bedrooms. Each can accommodate 3 people and has its own bathroom (one with shower, the other with bathtub). This is the little plus of Maison Chalendeix: you can live there with several people, in comfort and privacy! The last two large bedrooms are on the second floor. In one of them, you can admire the beautiful original structure of the farm. Each can accommodate two people and, as always, is adjacent to its own bathroom. The house is perfectly insulated so you will be warm in winter. In case of hot weather in summer, the ground floor remains cool because the house is semi-underground and the vine that runs on the facade protects from the sun. The windows of the upstairs bedrooms are equipped with blinds that preserve heat. In addition, refreshing drafts can be provided by opening the windows at night. In addition, as we are at an altitude of 510 m, temperatures decrease once the sun has set and the nights are cool and refreshing. All beds are 90 cm single beds that can be joined together to form very large 180 cm double beds. The bedding is quality. Your nights will be serene and conducive to sweet dreams. Linens (tea towels) are provided as well as dishwashing products, dishwasher tablets and laundry, all ecological because the water is drained into a phyto-purification system and the plants prefer natural products. A compost bucket is placed outside. You will also have an ironing board and iron. Baby furniture (two baby cots, a booster seat, a toilet seat reducer and a bathtub) is available upon request. Indoor and outdoor games as well as a small library are available in the living room. The garden has a barbecue, tables, chairs, umbrella and sunbeds. A hair dryer is placed in each bathroom as well as eco-friendly soap and shampoo dispensers. Maison Chalendeix is non-smoking. Ashtrays are available outside. If you would like to stay with your pet, we prefer to discuss this with you beforehand. We love animals, many at home (cats, dogs, free-range chickens). Your companion must be able to get along with the non-human neighbors of the house. Finally, we provide two bicycles. Other things to note Linens and towels are included in the price. Let us know how many single or double beds you would like us to prepare. Heating is included but beyond 10kw/day, a supplement will be requested. 1/4 of a cubic meter of wood is offered. We ask for a deposit check of 400 euros which will be returned upon checkout.
