Peaceful Mountain Retreat
Peaceful Mountain Retreat
Description
Escape to this secluded log home with stunning mountain and meadow vistas and its own pond. Three hours from both Philadelphia and New York, this spacious cabin has open and private spaces, a wrap-around porch, and easy access to local attractions. Find the perfect balance between savoring the peace and quiet of this getaway and visiting area restaurants, stores, museums, and state parks. The space This modern log cabin is nestled amongst maple, hemlock, and birch trees at the end of a long private driveway. It commands stunning mountain and meadow views on all sides, which you can enjoy from the many windows inside the cabin or from the wrap-around porch. On the property is a private pond for swimming and floating in the kayak or canoe. The first floor has an open floor plan that includes the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The master bedroom and bathroom with shower are also on the first floor, along with an office space that has a futon and a half bath with washer and dryer. The second floor has a loft that wraps around half the open living area and is full of windows that offer views to the north, east, and south. The second floor also has two bedrooms with double beds (one with a futon), a bathroom with a shower, and a reading nook, all made private by a sliding barn door that separates them from the loft. The basement area has a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with a shower, a kitchenette, a living room with a TV, and a sofa that folds out into a queen bed. Guest access Guests can use all the spaces of the cabin except for the locked storeroom in the basement and except for the barn situated just after the driveway turns sharply on the way to the cabin. The kayak and canoe are stored beside the barn, and those are for guests' use, but there is no access to the barn. Other things to note Pet fee is $100. Please keep pets off the furniture. Please close all windows when you go out or when it rains so that the wooden window frames and interiors are not damaged. During the winter months, the driveway can get slippery, so you need a vehicle that can handle steep, icy or snowy surfaces. Electric heat is very expensive, so we ask that guests use the gas fireplace as much as possible to heat the cabin (when someone is in it; do not leave the gas fireplace on when no one is in the cabin). Please also turn the electric heat down when not in the cabin. The cabin is cleaned by Christy Phillips. Please be considerate of her work.
