The space Welcome to your geodesic dome at the Lavender farm, a quiet retreat tucked into the hills of Danseys Pass. This is a place to slow down, enjoy the surroundings, and spend time with people you care about. The dome comfortably sleeps 2–6 guests and is well suited for couples, families, or small groups. Inside, there’s a king bed, a spacious king-sized sofa bed, and a bunk bed — all within an open-plan space that’s filled with natural light and views of the mountains. You’ll find a fully equipped kitchenette with an induction stovetop, toaster, kettle, microwave, and the essentials for simple meals. We’ve also provided teas, coffee, muesli, milk, and spreads to help get you started in the mornings. Outside, there’s a private spa for soaking under the stars, a BBQ and outdoor seating for meals, and easy access to the river, where you can relax and take in the quiet. You're also welcome to use the shared woodfired sauna, just a short walk from your dome — a great way to warm up and wind down. At night, the skies here are especially clear. With no streetlights or traffic, the stars are easy to see — perfect for a bit of stargazing from the spa or your outdoor chairs. You’ll probably spot our sheep and horses around the property. They’re friendly and used to people, and you’re welcome to say hello if they come by. We aim to keep things simple and sustainable here. The dome has an eco-friendly composting toilet with a bidet attachment and an outdoor shower. You’ll also find heating, air conditioning, yoga mats, games, and a few cozy corners to relax in, no matter the weather. Guest access Directions to Danseys Pass Lavender Farm From Duntroon (Approx. 30 minutes) From Duntroon or coming towards Duntroon, located along State Highway 83. Turn onto Danseys Pass Road, heading towards Danseys Pass. Follow Danseys Pass Road as it winds through the stunning Waitaki Valley countryside. Continue driving through the pass until you reach the purple gates of Danseys Pass Lavender Farm. From Naseby (Approx. 50 minutes) Begin your journey in Naseby, a charming historic town in Central Otago. Head northeast on Naseby-Danseys Pass Road, following signs for Danseys Pass. Drive through the breathtaking Maniototo Plains, eventually reaching the rugged and picturesque terrain of Danseys Pass. Look for the purple gates of Danseys Pass Lavender Farm, which will be on your route through the pass. Danseys Pass Road is a scenic, unsealed gravel road in several areas along the drive, so please take your time. When you arrive at the Purple Gates, follow the driveway past the main house. Keep going, and you’ll soon spot your dome on the right-hand side. It’s nestled in its own private spot, surrounded by stunning views and the peace of nature. We recommend taking your time on the drive, especially if you’re coming through the scenic Danseys Pass. The journey is part of the experience, with breathtaking landscapes at every turn.
